Bolivar Missouri | On Labor day weekend my reverse started acting up ..... It will kill the engine when engaging and once i pulled the lever without touching the start button it was already turning ..... Have always used it as the manual intructs
even go a step above and hold front brake to insure there is no movement while engaging and disengaging it . Keep in mind i had been in or was raining when this occurs . My wrenches and myself think it is geting moisture in a connection .
Has anyone had this or similar ? What did you do to fix it ?
Any advice is greatly appreciated .

New Bohemia, VA | see, see, one more thing to worry about. why can't motorcycles be two wheels, motor and a seat, huh. Just chose your parking wisely and you'll never need reverse. Just saying.... hope you get it figured out and fix none the less. |

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | I would assume, since you failed to clarify, that you must have a trike. Only big bike I know of that got so big it needs a reverser as standard equipment is the HONDA Bloatwing, left right left right works fine as my reverser- |

Bolivar Missouri | To answer SYNSTR's ? is it a trike ? No but am vertically challenged .... reverse helps these short legs out . Don't use it alot but it's there when i do need it . I am planing on lowering it down the road .

San Antonio, TX | There are many safety interrupts built into the system. You could be right. Possibly water is getting into one of the many connections. I am very concerned that it engaged and you did not even press the button.
I am also vertically challenged but I have 2008 so Reverse is not even an option for me.
Please post a resolution when you get one. I wish I could be more help.

Chino Valley, AZ | I have found that sealing my connections with NAPA Battery and Electrical sealer works, first make sure there are no shorts, clean your connections, reassemble and spray liberally. |

Edmonton AB, Canada | I've been thinking about adding the reverse option to my 2010. I do alot of camping and I have a hell of a time moving it in gravel sometimes.
Is it more trouble than it's worth?

Bolivar Missouri | Well folks i think i have found the problem . Almost 100% certain it is the starter button . This weekend i was in the rain again ..... Starting to have web feet and growing feathers ...... I could shut the engine off and turn the switch back on and without touching any thing else it would start back up . INMHO being as the starter button controls the reverse also ... |

| I haven't had your problem but mine needed adjustment cause it would say it was in neutral but not go into reverse. Glad you found out caused it.
Hey, don't worry about the guys posting you don't need reverse most of them have "old" bikes you can't get it on or are too cheap to pay for it.
I LOVE having it on mine. I have short legs and park where I want. The best times are when the other riders bitch cause they can't park when I am or it takes them a while to turn around and back in and worry about someone running into them.

South Central Pennsylvania | I am interested in any quirks / reliability of the reverse gear for my VV. While I agree with old-schoolers about playing it smart where you park, there are a few times that while I've parked on reasonably level ground, a small rock, stick, or other obstruction, or even the small lip of my garage floor can be a challenge for the Flintstone Reverse sometimes. Yes, it is possible to live without power reverse, but when I factor in the heated seat, heated grips, GPS, Stereo, power windows, sunroof, and Air conditioning; I wouldn't complain about letting the two-wheeled luxury Ocean Liner do the work for reverse also. Is the Reverse addition worth the $$ to you, or is it unneccesary complication. What is your take on the Benefit / Maintenance factor? |

Bolivar Missouri | Trekwolf Gravel , low spots in the yard even chuck holes .... Doesn't matter anymore ,,,, even get a chuckle when others are grunting and groaning trying to move their monsters . No more with a flip of the lever and push a button i"m gone ... And the ext. warranty no question's asked took care of the new switch housing which otherwise is real pricey . Ride Safe |
