I really don't like the factory mounting for the GPS because I feel it is too low and takes your eyes off the road for too long to view it. I know you can blue tooth it, but I just like to look at mine and not listen to it. So I mounted mine high on the dash so a slight glance down is all it takes. Just curious as to what other folks have done and what they have found works best for them. I am still in the try out period for my mount to see if I really like it. To explaine it I bought a new TomTom XXL 550. Then went to GPScity.com and got the mounting and the Aquabox. Total in the set up is less than $200. Best part is the TomTom has lifetime updates. So here is a pic of the unit mounted to the dash. I guess I would like to see some other options. I like it so far but am always open to improvments.
Well I will post a pic soon, I got a new computer and am having an issue with the photo program.

I have my Garmin 2720 on top of my dash with double sided 3M tape. Most of the time it stays in the carrying case in the saddlebag.

I use an app. (Garmin) on my Blackberry. I keep it in my pocket and the directions are bluetoothed to my helmet. It works for me because I get phone, GPS, MP3's, and streamed radio all through one device.

I use a Ram ball mount on the dashboard to mount my Garmin Nuvi 550. I don't bother with a power cord, just use the battery. After about 3 hours in the saddle I need to stop and get food/drink so I let the recharger top it off in the trunk. I prefer to have the GPS just below eye level when I have to use it for navigation. The Ram ball makes a good target to align the bike when I pull into my WheelDock at home. I have a tall pole fixed to the WheelDock to aim for with the Ram ball/GPS.

Mine is attached to my Co-Pilot, who (being from Japan) is never without it. In use - it is simply a case of paying attention to the Yada-Yada thru my new SENA intercom. You know "TURN LEFT YOU IDIOT !!! " - that kind of stuff. It works, and I don't even have to program it.

I added a ball mount to my console.  It's position is adjustable and works pretty nicely.

The GPS mount is a locking Touratech. The Spot Tracker mount (right mirror mount) is a Ram Mount.
I don't remember who made the EZPass mount (center) but you can also find them online.

I found the EZPass mount site - http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/3008/525/

.

I went with the RAM mount on the center dash like sfalexi wrote about in the tech reference. A longer RAM arm puts it much closer to me than the Victory mount would have and I can pivot it back down when not in use.
