Bayonne, NJ | Hey all the heel toe shifter through victory shows the heel shifter not interfering with the floorboard... alowing you to still position your feet anywhere on the floorboard....... but how can you comfortably hit the heel shifter?? any videos??

I never made the video but below is my post on the install. FYI, this is for the 2008 to 2010 heel toe shifter. The 2011 heel toe shifter part is just the heel and connects using two screws.
I did not install the heel part on the shifter lever. This leaves the floor board completely clear of any obstructions. I simply press my heel on the back part of the bar.

| Okay guys I have a question about the whole heel-toe shifter but in general, not specific to Victory (sorry to the OP for hijacking the thread!).
I have always been a traditional shifter person, in fact, one of the deciding factors when I purchased my Vision was the fact that it had floorboards and NO heel-toe shifter. I have ridden friends H-Ds as well as H-D rentals and I have always found that raising my heel off of the floorboard in order to get it on top of the heel peg to be an unnatural feeling unless the (only on H-Ds apparently) the heel peg was adjusted as close to the floorboard as possible and still be able to shift.
Here is the question: Am I perhaps simply doing something wrong with my foot position, the idea of raising my heel using the ball of my foot seems like so much more effort compared to a simple motion up or down with my ankle? I know the idea of always having a downward motion for all shifting is supposed to be extremely convenient but it still feels wrong, at least for shifting up while accelerating. |

| When I bought my '01 Royal Star Venture I really didn't like the heel/toe shifter at first. This was my first experience with this type of shifter. After about a week I really loved it, and it was the first thing I bought for my Vision.
I rode "escort" for the demo rides at my dealer (Cruisin' 66, Springfield, MO) last week and on all the new models I rode it seemed unnatural to use only my toe to shift.
The new High Ball is a hoot to ride, by the way!!

Kansas | Just had several co-workers test ride new Cross Country's and they were puzzeled by the heel/toe shifter. They all ride Harley's and have heel/toe shifters, but was they committed on how small the rear heel portion was. I explianed that they will like the fact that it does not block the rear of the floorboard giving them more room. I also explained that unlike their Harley trannys that need alot of persusion to shift, the Victoy tranny needs only a light touch to engage the next gear. I told them to think about spurring a horse, twist your ankle into the bike and give a light down stroke to change gears. After about five mre minutes didn't hear another word about the shifter. In the end after the demo they hated to admit they were impressed with what they just experienced. Their Harley tats are going to look a little odd with flying V's in them. |
