Pittsburgh, PA | I need some help... I changed my oil lastnight using m1 motorcycle oil and a m1 110 oil filter. (but before i got further) I did a very serious washing of the bike this morning.... so i then start the vision for the first time since the oil change and the oil light stays on!! i did Not ride it.. but i let it idle a 10-20 seconds to see if the light would go out.. it did Not... the reason i mentioned that i washed the bike was, In the past since the bike was new if i washed it and then rode it the oil light would stay on (dimmly) until i guess whatever dried itself, then it would go out. This time the oil light is bright.
i also did this. removed the m1-110 oil filter and reinstalled the Polaris used oil filter to see if it was a problem with the oil filter itself. I still have the same issue... I checked the oil dipstick and it is showing full oil.. any ideas? |

| Sounds like your oil switch is bad. Does your motor knock when you start it?
Lay down on the floor and look at the switch. Pull the wire off and see if there is a drop of water between the wire and the switch. If not get a new switch and put it in. You'll have to tip the bike to the right to do this.
Call your dealer to see if he has a switch. If not a harley shop or auto store should have one. Take your switch with you to compare threads on the switch I do believe there all the same.
In side the switch is a thin metal rod and when the oil pushes on the rod the light goes out when no oil the rod slides out and that turns the light on.
You'll have to use a big pair of pliers to to unscrew the switch or crescent wrench.

Pittsburgh, PA | guys and gals, im so sorry for wasting a thread.... i found the problems.. H2O... i looked up where the oil pressure sensor was and i removed the boot and a ton of waster came out of it!! so i started the bike and the light was gone.. once again im sorry for posting before i did my home work.. (i was having a mini panic attack seeing the most dreaded light of all) |

| My dealer pulled the boot off and threw it away.

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | Next time you're in the parts store pick up a tube of dilectric grease and use a dab every time you install a plug or connector or plug wire, keeps the moisture out and contacts in good order, if you own a British classic car, see if you can get a bulk rate to take care of the LUCAS Electrics (the Prince of Darkness) |
