After I turn the key off - a few seconds later, I have a funny noise from the right side of the fairing - is that where the fuel pump is? Sounds like it is coming from the same place that I hear the fuel pump when I turn the key on ( and I do let it run and stop before starting) I have read about fuel pump problems - is this what anyone heard before things went south?

After a few seconds after turning the key off, the fuel pump will make a noise depressurizing. This sound is just a little bit louder than when turning the key on when the fuel pump is pressurizing. Normal, unless it gets outrageously loud.

If it's a sort of low buzzing, it's probably the fuel pump releasing pressure back to the input line, mine does the same and that's what I figured it to be since everything now runs on pretty high fuel pump pressures, your FI car does the same thing but it's under an insulateed hood so you don't hear it.

That's odd I thought it was the warp core returning to idle.

I thought it was the transporter shutting down.

It is the discharge of the plasma injectors ,very normal prevents a breach of the warp reactor on start up.

It is probably the fuel pump, but if you have the optional air conditioning a similar noise will come from the compressor. Either is normal. ;-)

Mr Sug, looks like it is normal. Unlike most of the answers.

As everyone should know, the transporter, plasma relay, dilithium crystals, flux capacitor etc all shut down or stand by silently - it is one of the features of the Vision although I understand some were so troubled by this they have an alarm fitted that emits a few beeps seconds after shutdown.
