Ok, someone surely has the answer to this. I'm trying to remove the passenger floorboards to add risers. And I cannot get the damned retaining clip off! It's similar to 1 7/8 turns of a flat spring, or a lock washer with another 3/4 turn. Anyone familiar with this? Do I need a special tool?

Thanks

If you bend it go to the hardware store and get a new one. Take the pin with you. A sprung clip will not hold and your floor board will be down the road.

They are like very small key rings, you need to find the end and then open it up gently. I used two small instrument flat end screwdrivers.
One to hold the "spare" end and the other to "stretch" open the ring. Once you've identified the way it works, its still a pain to get off, but achieveable
with some patience. Best of luck

Rememeber, shiny side up!!

A special thanks to SteveHinVegas! Your suggestion did the trick and quickly to boot. Thanks!! And "radio" I'll take your suggestion and get the different bolts. Seems everyone is having an issue with the small diameter bolts supplied! Thanks to all again!!
