| I installed rubber molding at the lid of the trunk, but still has noise at bumps and rough road.
My dealership said that many people complain about the noise from the trunk.
IS anyone knows any solution for this?? |

Tucson, AZ | Most of my noise come from the black plastic shroud behind the rear speakers...just add some felt dots and that will help with that part...there are other fixes for the latch catches that if you search here you find them....I just turn the stereo up and ride. After 63K miles and no other problems a little rattle is the least of my worries.

New Brunswick , Canada | Check the hinges of the trunk...the pin in the hinges is a tad small..no mater how your latch is tight if there is play in the hinges it will rattle.
Plus i agree with MKULTRA for the black plastic cover of the speakers.
I had a goldwing b/4 and tried the harley elec. glide for a week...on bad roads they all rattle. But you can tone it down with a fiew adjustment. |

Western WA | Get some narrow weather stripping and put it in the channel of the rubber seal on the trunk.
I had to use a double layer. But that would depend on the size of the stripping.
I did that back in 2008. Never heard another rattle. |

I did the weatherstrip thing and it helped. But I still had a buzzing noise. Turned out the trunk reflectors were loose. |

| I posted this on here before but cant remember where. It is the hinge you need to remove the lid bolts then loosen the base bolts and twist the hinge and retighten the bolts then put the lid bolts back on. If you want to check to see if in fact it is the hinge making the noise. Then while on a bumpy road as its making noise reach back (dont wreck doing this) and hold down the trunk lid over the hinge and it should stop rattling. Hope this helps it did with mine. Dain |

| I had the same problem. Faulty hinges. Also the dealer has for ZERO 2 rubber plugs that are glued on the lid just above either side of the trunk lock. I was in contact with Corporate and these were on notices sent to dealers when the 2008 came out. My dealer claimed he did not get them, were not on some web site that dealers are suppose to check, yada yada yada, before doing any work.

| Go to Home Depot and buy two half round moon like door knob stoppers...They are usually white and come two in a package..Don't buy the really hard ones, buy the softer ones...They come with sticky tape on back and mount them on the bottom of the latch area in the trunk towards the rear where the trunk light switch hits the bottom...They will eliminate about 90% of the noise and costs about $2..... |

There is also a lot of noise that comes from the lid not closing tightly. Shortening the latch hooks permanently solves this issue. This pulls the lid down tight to keep the latch hooks from rattling on their catches and also eliminates the hinge rattle. Here is my write-up on how to shorten the latch hooks:

Most hardware stores carry small aluminum barstock. Use the latch hook to mark two holes. If you do not have the correct size tap then drill holes the same diameter as the latch hook holes. Mount the latch hook to the bar stock with bolts and nuts.
This process might take a bit of time compared to other methods, but it will be last time you will have to mess with it.
Good luck fixing your rattle. |

Camas Washington | For $8.50 shipped to your house via your dealer, just order the two rubber stops for the trunk. Takes a whole 5 minutes to install and the problem is fixed for good. End of story!! |

Orlando | I have done it all... Still had noise! So, I got some of the foam you would place around the truck bed before you install a shell on it... I split the inner and outer shells of the trunk and ran strips of this stuff all over the inner shell then put it all back together... I made a nice sandwich between the two. And, no more noise! Too much plastic on plastic between the two. |

Camas Washington | Bruce,, not sure of the part #. ask your dealer to look up the rubber stoppers that come with the Vic rack. I have a cycleops wing V rack. They are $5 and with shipping $8.50. You just drill to I think 5/16th holes next to the lid latch and twist them in. It has stopped all the rattle. Only minor isssue is you really have to close the lid hard since its a very tight seal with the stoppers. I don't get why mother vic just does not inlude these, it is really stuppid they don't since it solves the problem.
