What is the largest size speakers anyone has had or seen used in the front?

Without difficult modification, the largest I have seen is 5.25 inch which is the Vision stock size. There is very little room in the speaker area to increase the size.

I saw on this forum someone put speakers in place of the mirrors. They mounted mirrors to the master cylinders like the tyical motorcycle setup. I think those speakers were 6.5 inch. Anyone have a link to that thread to verify my info?

HMD is working on that. I got some Ness mirrors and mounted them on the bars. I have to keep reminding myself to to look at those instead of the fairing mounted mirrors but I can see everything behind me now. Once HMD comes out with their speaker pods, I'll probably get them then add an amp. I just got a modular helmet and the music is very muddled now.

Alpine SPR- 50+ bad ass speakers crystal clear and 1.21 jigga watts from arc audio. Rock solid amp digital power and integrated cooling fan. Totally happy with the power and sound..... plus its so loud it pisses off my Hardley riding buddies.

Armyron,
Does the tweeter fits under the stock speaker cover? They look raised up in the photo.
Have you subject them to much rain? They can be had for 1/2 the price of the Kickers.

Thanks
Michael.

cw1115 where did you see the photos? I'm thinking of chaging mine, and also maybe making the existing mirrors into a speaker compartment as I have already added the extra mirrors that I can actually see out of and see behind me instead of just seeing my own arms and shoulders.

I took out the stockers (one was badly blown) and replaced them with Polk DB521s. Got a good deal on eBay, bought direct from Polk - $42 shipped.

I used my $9 Harbor Freight heat gun to warm the plastic pods and deform them to fit the deeper Polk speakers - took 45 minutes to complete the the entire job.

Since one of my speakers was toast it was an instant HUGE difference. Seems just as loud (the Polks efficiency rating was 1 db better than the stock speakers). The bass and treble adjustments seem to actually accomplish something besides just causing distortion.

Im happy.....still hard to hear them over my open exhaust at 80mph screaming down the interstate.....but then I dont think anything short of an amp or slowing down will solve that problem.
