Hey all,
Out for a winter ride the other day and my hands were not getting too toasty with the grips on HIGH. I figured it was because it was that f'rign cold out (20's) But I decided to flip the switch to low and in a short few minutes my hands were feeling some heat...still wish I had the HIGH setting working!

Has anyone had this occur? I have never had my console apart but I am thinking there may be two different leads into the heated grip switch and the HIGH one is loose or disconnected. This happens to my rear right speaker often. I have since fixed that.

Any thoughts? Also, any guidance on how to go about the do-it-yourself fix would be great. Considering the cold weather, snowy and salty roads and my dealer is 3 hours away, I just assume do this one on my own.

Thanks!

HIGH is TOO toasty. I have learned not to use that anyway - LOW works great for long winter rides with proper winter riding gloves. Suck it up! Be a MAN ! Just kidding... park it if the puddles freeze.... you're bike will love you (no salt) and you're Co-Pilot will feel your love for her by keeping yourself safe.
Well, you asked "Any thoughts?"

The high low switch has three wires plugged into the back, the middle is the power lead and the bottom one is for LOW heat. It sounds like both of these are plugged in fine, so if it's going to be an easy fix, it's going to be the top wire (HIGH) that came loose. If that is secure, Than it may be the switch that went bad. Switch the top and bottom leads. If it gets real hot when you turn LOW on, then the switch is what's bad. If you get nothing, then it's probably not the switch. Check any wires for cuts or kinks. Everything else that could be causing the problem would mean replacing the grips.

You can still get new ones for $62.99 at Honda East,

Dog, Thanks for the input...I actually bought a set of heated grips last fall only because they were so cheap. I figured i'll keep them as spares for when the time is needed. That time may be now, but I will check the things you mention.

If its the switch, I'll chat with the dealer about warranty.

Don, Thanks for the "thoughts" And I do suck it up...my digits suck up the heat when the grips are working on high. You are spot on about the Co-pilot. My wife would just assume I keep it parked for the winter (the bike that is). She and the 4 wee ones laugh at me when I roll out with snow all around us.

SongFan found some cool lit rocker switches. I'm thinking about switching out all the rockers with these. Other colors too.
