For the second time I experienced a failure of the cruise control today (can turn it on, but it won't activate). Took the advice of others and checked the brake lights this time. They were on constant. Decided to check turn signals and then the hazard flashers which were fine with the key on, but the engine was off. Forgot to turn off the hazards when I started up and pulled out onto the road (maybe 5 minutes had passed). That was when I noticed no turn signal or hazard indicator illuminated on the dash. Asked the driver behind me if they were on and she confirmed, no.

OK time to get home and call for a service appointment. A couples of miles down the road I turned the radio on. Right after doing so I checked the turn signals and they were fine, so I tried the cruise and it was fine too. Hazards were also working again.

The radio thing has to be just a coincidence, RIGHT?

The cruise diagnostic doesn't provide any clues. Of course, like before, the dealer isn't going to be able to find anything now.

Can the hazard relay overheat and cause that failure which cleared once it cooled from driving?

Anybody have similar Gremlins riding with them?

Not yet, but I do have a guardian angel riding on the dash if that counts.

Are you recommending that I add the bell?

i would like to throw my two cents in. I had trouble with my cruise control and it would not come on period. It toof a dealer in another city in Arizona to figure out that the wire that went to the seat was smashed and would short out and kill the cruise and the heated seat. Just something to think about.

I would suggest that you right down just what happens each time does. Keep a record as correct as possible. This can help them diagnose a problem when you take it in and it doesn't do it for them. That what my Senior Electronic Engineer has everyone do. When he looks at the schematic he can trace out what units are interrelated.
I had a problem with my radio for a long time. Many things were tried. To make a long story short it ended up being a wire rubbing against the side of the fuel tank seam. Victory replaced my whole wiring harness.

I agree as stated above start looking for any frayed wires or bad grounded wires. Of course it's hard follow them all out unless you remove the panels but you can get to some just by taking the seat off.

Let us know how it works out for you. Maybe ask at all the Vic sites for a dealer with a mech that's super good at electrical near you?

I thought we were barred from discussing religion or politics. Isn't the Riders Bell an artifact from the Order of the 45 Degree Pushrod V-Twin (Potato, Potato, Genuflect)?

How does a superstition of this type jive with being the owner of a modern motorcycle.
Just askin'.

Now if you're talking cowbell I'm with you "110%"!
