As my rides have been getting longer, I been thinking of putting a cooler in one of the saddlebags.  I ride mostly with the trunk off, or a normal size cooler would fit fine.

I'm looking for something that will hold ice and not leak.  Anybody here have any recommendations?

First recommendation is to forget it. Gets way to hot in there to sustain ice for any length of time. You would do better getting a chrome or black leather cooler and putting it on the luggage rack.

I have one from California Inovations. Will hold two bottled waters. It has small cryo paks with it so there is no ice use. I have not used ice in it, looks like it would leak in time. Wife got it for the bike, we used it once. Unless your really out in the big sky country, there are enough places to stop and get cold drinks. I've found that a insulated cup 32 oz. in my Cup Kaddy works the best for staying in the saddle while running out a tank of gas.

Living in Phoenix, AZ I put a soft sided leather cooler in my left saddle bag (sometimes on my back rack) and it works perfectly. It does not get too hot in there at all. When I'm out riding all day who wants to spend $7 on drinks throughout the day when I have drinks I can take with me. No way 32oz will ever last past maybe 10AM in the morning. I do not use ice in the bag, what I do is take the bottles 3/4 full and freeze them, then top them off. I put those in the cooler with no ice and they stay cold all day. They may sweat a little but not enough to leak through the cooler.

I still have not found one, but did locate a California Inovations one in the house. Unfortunately it is to large.

I think a small one with ice paks will work pretty good.

I use my saddle bag cooler from HD that I bought for the Road King-it is well insulated, water proof(if kept upright) and hold ice for the entire day and has a capacity of at least 8 cans or half quart bottles.

I'll have to check that out, as it would have to be well insulated. My right side bag gets very hot even on moderately warm days. Left side is for my tools and First-Aid kit.
