Hi Guys,
I was slabbing today and got to thinking about the cruise buttons since I was using them quite a bit. The three I use the most are SET, ACC and DEC. The current setup looks like this:

ON RES SET
OFF ACC DEC

Getting to the ACC is kind of a pain. First, the ACC button can't be reached easily without moving my hand from the grip. Second, I have to look for the ACC button since its so small and located between two others. Logically, they aren't positioned in the best way either. I think it would make more sense if they were like this:

ON SET ACC
OFF RES DEC

That positions the buttons so that the ones used the most are the easiest to get to and it also positions the ACC and DEC buttons in the most logical way, UP to Accelerate and DOWN to Coast. In these positions I can get at them without moving my hand and I don't need to look for any of them. The only one that would be hard to get to is the RES button but I find that I hardly use it anyway.

So, the idea is to rewire the buttons and re-mark them. What do you think?

The other thought which is less of an issue but on the same train of thought is the fact that the cruise has to be turned ON anytime the ignition is cycled. On my Harley the cruise used a rocker switch that I left on all the time so whenever I needed the cruise it was always ready. This could easily be accomplished on the Vision by simply momentarily cycling +12V to the ON wire whenever the bike is started. I could do this with a timed relay or through the starter circuit. Conversely, if I didn't want the cruise on for some reason I would just need to touch the OFF button. Something to play with

I believe that like the rest of the Vision technology, the cruise also works on resistance and seeing the number of wire inputs, I would expect that you are looking at more than switching wires. I think you may have to completely rework the internals of the switch cube while making sure not to alter the resistance value of any given circuit. I haven't sat on the bike and pondered this, but sitting here thinking your problem, have your given any thought to switch cube relocation?. Possibly one of our machinist handymen could fabricate an upper mount for the right side similar to the left com cube. Or, I would like it on the bottom as is except more outboard, more under the grip.

As you get use to the control positions any thought of rearranging them will go away (muscle memory), besides you don't need any of the buttons except set. If you want to slow tap a brake, resume hit the throttle and reapply set.....etc
The problem you are going to run into if you play with the control is that it isn't a simple move this "switch" here or there, AND it is a sealed unit. In fact several people experienced resistance cross bleeding issues with the early 08 bikes so victory's supply had to redesign the module to eliminate the problem. In other words if you open it up you are going to be opening up a can of worms you'll wish you had not. JMO

Something to remember is that they are not rocker switches. They are essentially, just three buttons. No matter where you push each one, it will react the same. You don't have to hit the top of on/off to turn it on, or the bottom to turn it off. It will switch either on or off wherever you push it. Same with the other two. They only do whichever of the two functions they are able to do, when pushed.

Personally i think i can count on one hand the times ive even used the Res ,Acc and Dec buttons. I turn it on then just hit Set every time. If i have to brake or accelerate i do so, then get back to the speed i want and hit set again. Pretty simple

I've not checked yet, but can you move the controls on the upper side and make it easier. I don't know what it would take, but I'm playing off of the audio control switch that some of us has done, thanks to radioteacher I believe. The radio controls are not on the upper side of my left grip and I wonder why Victory didn't put them there to begin with, so much easier to mess with even when griping the clutch lever at a light.

I wonder how many of US had to go try out the buttons and go "duh, I didn't know that". That's like saying it is impossible to touch your tonge to your elbow.

Thanks Chief Waldo, I don't use my cruz much so I never gave it much thought until you said something.

when I actuall install cruise on my 8ball, I installed the cruise pod on the left hand side. I couldnt stand trying to work the cruise and throttle with the sam hand. Its easier to maneuver my short fingers to get to everything on the left side
