Can someone identify the best circuit to tap into for an 09 I picked the wrong one & my cruise does not work.

Wow did our problem get complicated!

Let me start by explaining what we are trying to do with the Kuryakin controller.
We split the trunk lights apart. We run those at half voltage for tail and full voltage for turn/ brake lights.
The lower lights stay stock for turn and tail functions. But for brake functions we are running the second elements off of the Kuryakin for the stock brake lights so they can run the flash function.
On the '09 Tour Premium We haven't found the "White / Red" wire that is referenced as the brake input source. We found a whole bunch of "white / pink" that seem to be the brake light circuit. ( any one with actual '09 schematics would be our hero right now).
So we tapped into it for the Kuryakin and everything worked great! ... while the bike sat still.
Once you start the engine however the brake lights start to half come on and freak the heck out in so many words.
What we discovered: the white/pink wire carries about 11 - 12 volts with key on WITHOUT the brakes applied. Once applied the voltage jumps up to battery/ running voltage. But it's not a solid short. When I probed with my test light ( key on, no brakes) the 11V drops to almost zero. So it's a low amp bleed through! Problem is, in the stock configuration it's no big deal. The low amp bleed isn't enough to turn on the brake bulb elements. BUT with the Kuryakin , being a low resistance electronic input, it starts to think it's seeing a brake signal and lights off the flashing brake light function with no brake pedal/ handle apply.
As a quick test I ran my test light in line from the White / pink wire to the brake input line on the kuryakin. Essentially making it a filter for the input. The brake light freak out was ALMOST completely gone.
I could wire up a resistor pack to filter out the low amp bleed but I wanted to post here first and see if there were any electrical gurus who could find me a better solution or look at an actually '09 schematic and tell me what is causing the bleed.

I don't have a 2009 wiring diagram but I can tell you it is the white/pink that your tap into for the Kuryakyn brake light input.

green/pink (run/tail lights)

blue/red (right turn)

blue (left turn)

What slowed me down when starting the project was that there are two major wire harnesses that go to the back of the Vision. I found the correct wires in the OTHER wire harness.....not the one I was looking at for over an hour.

Look around and see if you are doing what I did.

I am using the one that has the big rectangular connector under the seat. It incorporates into the cloth covered harness that goes up under the center console. It has one white and pink coming down from the center console to the connector and one white and pink coming out of the back that then turns into 3 white and pink heading towards the back of the bike.

Look for another major harness....and you will find what you seek. I was drawn away from the right harness for over an hour before I looked for another one. My is covered in something that looks like black tape but it is not tape. Man I need to make a video of this.

Keep looking around under the seat on the right side near the trunk. The harness will keep going around to the rear V taillights.

Did mine today and this is must do mod if you are towing a trailer this puts lights up high. I would like to know why victory doesn't do this from the factory but I guess they will at some point.

I have an 08 and am attempting this mod. My current dilemma is this: following Post#24799 Firehawk's directions, to the point where you come to the "geen/pink" to the right trunk (to connect to the Kuryakyn BROWN output) ...... which is then followed by "green/pink" from front of bike. (other side of one above.) .....to be connected to the Kuryakyn BLUE input power. ..... I am confused!!??? Are we referring to the "green/pink" in the harness where we tap into the White/Red, Blue, and Blue/pink ??? Do you CUT the green/pink????? do you tap into it????? Do you run another "new" wire for the RIGHT side trunk light?........H E L P !!!!! Please

Also the Kuryakyn instructions don't really help either. What to do with the "BLACK" square electronic piece? Also that slide in "wire looking thing" that says, "flashing"????leave it in or remove it. I'm 62 and know enough to really get discombobulated!!!

Thanks if anyone can help.

The black square piece is a load equilizer. You shouldn"t need this unless you have added led lights. Unplug the piece marked flash if you want your brake lights to operate as normal. If you choose to leave it plugged in your brake lights will flash 3 to 5 times before they stay on solid. Yes, you need to run a seperate wire to one side of the trunk lights or both rear lights will act as one since they are presently wired together.

I agree, in fact after you and I spoke on the phone, and I wrapped it all back up using your guidance, I rode with a group on Saturday. The Saturday ride was to the Dealership and the Victory Factory Demo Ride Open House. I was able to speak with a Rep (actually video tape interview) to take back [along with many others reponses from their rides, I should mention], to the engineers and techs, sales, etc . I hammered home that the factory should incorporate the TRUNK lites as RBT signals as well. Pleased to report that all other of the 12 riders, of my group, were on HD's, I got 5 to take test rides. Now these are of the mindset, "if it ain't a HD, it ain't shit", well they all made comments and the least of all comments was, "I can't say anything bad about it". WOW progress!! Of course I'm riding a "starship" in their eyes!!! The Dealership is in Honesdale, PA and is a HD & Polaris/Victory Dealer Co-located but Seperate buildings. So quite a turn-out.
Oh, and as a side note; My '07 Ultra was parked outside (I can ID it easily as it is Pearl White w/Blue and I had removed the stock mirrors and added the fairing mirrors plus I had an LED strip on the trunk as additional lighting as well) but the point is, I HAD NO HEART PAINS SEEING IT!!!) I love my VISION!!!
If you can clarify those instructions, I recommend the MOD to all Vison Riders!! I like the 3 rapid flash too!!

Thanks again Paul,

Jeff (Gandalf)

Make sure you guys are tapping into the right wire harness. Easiest way to find it is to look on the right side (as if sitting on bike) and where the under seat aluminum cowl is. You'll see a big quick disconnect with all the brake, turn, running lite wires you'll ever wish to find.
