I have the 2820.
I read it was discontinued and replaced with a different Garmin that is flat.

What is the model number of this new Garmin?

Thanks!

I already have a Garmin GPS and while I know I can figure out mounting and running power to it, is there any way of integrating a non-Victory purchased GPS through bikes sound system? I really have a hard time justifying a purchase of an expensive one through Victory when I already have one.

Alternatively, my current GPS does not have BlueTooth. I am considering buying a Cardo Scala Rider set so my wife and I can talk while riding. If I do get a ~$250 BlueTooth Garmin, I assume I could get my turn-by-turn sound via BT through Cardo without worrying about running sound through stock Victory speakers?

Any advice here would be appreciated!

i purchased the 2820 from Garmin specifically because it was the exact same model that Victory sold at 800.00 yet i paid 280.00 for it
the only thing you dont get is the Victory logo printed on the face of the unit. Its plug and play into the existing wiring, the mount kit is exactly the same, if you want to spend more go for it, personally id put that money into CHROME !
my buddy has the ZUMO its bigger, bulkier and doesnt really have any other features that my GArmin has, i have bluetooth, touch screen, blah blah blah

As I did!

Got mine on Ebay last year for less then $200.00

Anything I get to replace it will also be searched out for the lowest price.
Can down load a pretty picture from Victory if I want it on my startup screen.

Have pretty bike, nobody looks at my GPS startup screen anyway!

I've got the Zumo 550 w/XM running through the factory stereo system and love it. The dealer did a great job on the install.

Buzzman - what year Vision is yours? Will the 2820 play through the speakers? I'm thinking a buying a Garmin 550 because you can add custom maps, I've heard you can do the same on the 2820, but I can't see it listed anywhere in the literature. I wonder if the Garmin 550 will play through the speakers of 2008 Vision. Victory says the Garmin 660 won't. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have the Zumo550 mounted on the left handlebar with the ram mount that came with it. I purchased an extension cable for the audio output from R Shack and connected it to the connector in the compartment. I used an existing switched power connection to power the harness that came with th mount, I also have the XM receiver/antenn mounted on the plate that came with antenna attached to one of the bolts from the ram mount. Great sound from the XM!!!

If you are using the Garmin 2820 and the Victory GPS wiring harness the audio system plays it on your speakers. Does it automatically and will override your radio when it speaks.

So...I absolutely hate the look of the ZUMO550. Of course I purchased the extra antenna for XM reception. I am bummed that the 660 doesn't have this ability.
I really don't want to lose the XM ability. Tell me I am not screwed and have to buy a 550 OR stay with my 2820!

Turbo - NOTHING! However, its bulky, ugly and a bit of a pig considering its now at least 3 year old technology (consider development time here). My maps are out of date and I would rather just spend a few bucks for the updated version (new bells/whistles) than spend the $$$ on maps. Oh well...guess another 100 bucks on maps to get her back up to date will be fine. Just wanted a newer look is all.

Sonic - I think you meant the 2720...but I got ya! Yeah...that is the reason I went with the 2820.

Pav - Absolutely love the net. You get all kinds of weird stuff. But hey, if you are up for the sifting, you can find out just about any thing as long as you have the time!

personally i run the 2820 with 2009 maps & love the user friendliness
Also I run XM & bluetooth thru it & works very well
I understand the bulkyness, but with the factory mount-it looks like it belongs there

Guess you don't get out much?

Put a bunch of bikers (or any human) in a room, table, bar or what have you, and you get all kinds of statements after the starter conversation.

Last evening at a Christmas party we went down all kinds of goat trails after the conversation starter.
Took till 1am to get people to shut up.

And you think the Internet drives you crazy.

Tim - probably asked this question before, but what are running under the hood of your other bad habit?

my dad had a WS short nose conventional that ran a 425 kittycat and changed up some gears so that it could pull the hills with little effort. I drove with him one time and pulled the hills through PA on I-81 with forty-thousand and passed bigger rigs on the up-hill grades like they was sittin' still. They swore we was running empty...listenin' to them chattin' on the cb.

Oh, to keep the thread, I don't have no GPS on my Vision, but would probably get the latest garmin when I do...

BTW that is the best looking WS I've seen...

I use a Garmin Nuvi 760 and it has the ability to play the MP3 through a FM Transmitter and I just tune it to a FM open station and it plays through the stock speakers. Works so much better than my VTX with the Kury amp/speakers.
Only thing I have to plug in is for the power and nothing else.
