TB, sorry, I wanted to bring our communications over into the forum. I made mention of riding in the rain here on the forum that day with the pouring rain and no riding gear either and I said I was moderately wet. I was dry by the time I got to the VA line.

I called you from the pikeville exit on 795 and I must have been right behind you as you said. I ran into the rain the same parts that you did and I clocked at 9.8 miles. I hit a few moderate spells on I-95 north, but nothing like on 795.

I wonder what folk were thinking when they saw two Visions riding through that stuff, a miles apart.....

Yes.... I WAS out in that stuff. 50mph+ gusts, hail and the whole kaschmiel. Musta been a small cell. I ran into it at Fremont, ran WITH it and was out by the time I hit Wilson. Weird stuff.

If you were atching the road, I was the idiot hightailing it down 795 in that weather without gear. In retrospect, dumb... but I was in a hurry.

If you called at 5:30, we must have been within 15 minutes of each other.

No problem.

First, I rarely post anything that would embarass me if it got into the open. Too much computer training from work has gotten into my mindset.

Second, and more to the point.... there is a certain amount of chest-puffing and loin girding that accompanies frank admission of surviving a situation like that. It will join my repertoire of "war stories" along with some of my backpacking, sailboat racing and bicycle touring history... as well as some of the more sordid stuff that may tend to incriminate me =

One funny thing happened. The rain was such that I was soaked through. When I got out of the rain, I decided to air dry a bit while it was still warm, so I dropped my windshield a bit. Once that slipstream dropped below my chin, my shirt inflated like a spinnaker in a 25 knot wind. POP!... and I looked even more like the Michelin man than usual.
