Can anyone tell me the current radio software version?

I'm the 4.13 and was wondering if there is a newer version than this.

Arkainzeye,

Compared to the my old 4.12 code the one thing I noticed is that the radio soft starts when changing channels and when turning on. When I used to turn it on when going down the road, it would be really loud the quite down. Now it starts quite and goes up the the set volume.

clubford00,

My software levels.

Radio:
SW 5.12A
HW 4

CB:
SW 5.12A
HW 6

As described by Vision Rider Spock:

You can access this info by going into the Radio System Diagnostic menu on your radio. To do this follow the instructions below.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC and turn the radio off (Victory Motorcycles is shown on display)
2. Turn ignition switch OFF.
3. Turn ignition switch back to ACC.
4. PRESS & HOLD the #1 preset button and MODE button while turning the radio power ON.
5. The diagnostics mode is entered. Press MODE to toggle through the diagnostic funtions. To exit diagnostics press Power button.

NOTE: A "Watchdog Error Cleared" message will occasionally appear as the first thing displayed. This can be ignored, it is an internal software notification.

6. The first screen shows the radio software (SW) & hardware (HW) revision.

7. The second screen is used to check buttons and button wiring circuts related to the radio / com. system. The display contains two lines of "Zeros". Each location corresponds to a radio button on the radio, handlebar switches, or passenger switches. A (0) represents a button not being pressed. A one (1) represents a button being pressed. If a "1" appears at an address in the upper or lower row of the radio display the button and circuit wiring are funtioning correctly.

8. The third screen shows Tuner location, which will always be set to USA.

9. The forth screen list the status of the radio amplifier.

10. The fifth screen displays vehicle speed. This can be used to test if the radio is receiving the vehicle speed CAN message from the PCM. It could also be used to test for a faulty CAN bus connection to the radio. If the speedometer is working but the radio is showing zero speed, it has no CAN connection.

11. If there are no accessories installed on the vehicle, the display will go back to the first screen. If accessories are installed, there are additional diagnostics screens for each accessory, showing the SW & HW revisions, etc.

Will any Victory dealership update the radio software? I'm planning on a trip to California in August and was wondering if I stop by a dealership on the way would they flash it for me. My Ipod works sometimes and sometimes doesn't and think this might be the cure I need (3rd generation Nano). I also found out that if you upgrade to Itunes 8.1 it won't work at all! I had to backwards load 7.1 to get it to work again.

Any dealer can do it. You need to make eure that they have run the updates on their stuff though

The upgrade should help with the iTunes version difference.

While you are at it, I would highly suggest you secure your ipod with a hard plastic case and velcro it to the inside of the glovebox. I went thru 3 cables to find this out. Very frustrating. I am over 6 months on this cable with no issues. The cable breaks down at the connection from all the free movement.

Thanks for the suggestion on securing it in the box. I wondered if it was going to take a beating inside there. I also found out that Itunes 8 will work. Took my 16yr old daughter to show me what I did wrong! Guess I am getting old.

By the way if anyone is looking for a cheap alternative to the J&M upgrade speakers, I found that the Pioneer TS-G1342R speakers sound just as good and will let you go all the way to 30 on the volume. These are however 4-ohm instead of 2-ohm but my local stereo guru told me they shouldn't wreck the amp. You can get them here at the local Wal-Mart for about $33. I don't think I'll ever listen to them above 16 because they just get really loud with the AVC set to "high".

Needing a little help here as my radio has been acting up since day one.

When we picked up the bike, the ICOM & CB buttons on the handlebar wouldn't work. The dealer took it back around to the Tech and he said one of the connectors came apart and the superglue they used the first time wasn't any good. (since when do you superglue connectors?)

The second time, we left on an overnight trip. As we were leaving, the passenger mic wouldn't work, but everything else was fine. At the first stop, we switched around cords and finally things started working after shutting things off & on a half dozen times. When we climbed back on the bike and started it to leave, the display showed Victory Motorcycles, but there was no sound. Nothing would happen hitting the power button and turning the bike off & on wouldn't reset it. We rode the rest of the day with no radio. The Victory Motorcycles stayed displayed all night long with no key in the ignition and all the next day. About halfway home that evening, the radio decided to start working again after a gas stop.

The third time it acted up, the radio display was blank and you couldn't turn the radio on or off. It did this for 2 days straight, then suddenly out of the blue, it started working again.

The fourth time it acted up, pressing the buttons on the handles bars wouldn't do anything, then the CB button would turn the ICOM off. Pressing the ICOM button, the ICOM would come back on, but the CB wouldn't turn the CB off then. After turning the bike off/on a couple of times, things straightened out and now everything is working again.

I checked the versions, this is what I have:

2009 Vision
IPOD cable connected, but no IPOD hooked up, cable laying loose in compartment
GPS hooked up to a Garmin 2730
No Satellite
SW: 5.12A HW: 1
Bootver: 5.08A
CB SW: 4.08A
CB HW: 6
Amp: No
Errors

Should I be taking it to the dealer to get the latest software flash, or could it be a hardware or wiring problem?

Looks like you have the latest flash, 5.12A.

That doesn't mean it isn't a software problem, but I would look at the hardware itself.

Sidenote: The Ipod cable that fried my Nano looks like it's going to be replaced under warranty. Like ScoreBro said, Victory is telling the techs that you need to secure the Ipod. The constant movement is supposedly what is causing the arc that fries the hardware.

The tech isn't convinced and still thinks it's a batch of bad cables, but I'll be velcro-ing that sucker to the side next time just in case.

All fo the software needs the same version flash. I se your CB, and radio are diferent versions. I had trouble with mine untill the dealer matched the software flashes.

Bones,

Here is your data from above.

2009 Vision
IPOD cable connected, but no IPOD hooked up, cable laying loose in compartment
GPS hooked up to a Garmin 2730
No Satellite
SW: 5.12A HW: 1
Bootver: 5.08A
CB SW: 4.08A
CB HW: 6
Amp: No Errors

My current software levels listed below are from a flash upgrade completed in November, 2008. 5.13 or newer is the current version. I think I saw someone post that 5.13A is the latest.

2008 Vision
Radio:
SW 5.12A
HW 4

CB:
SW 5.12A
HW 6

Notice that my software level for the radio and CB match. That happened after my bike was flashed. I am not sure that matching software versions would happen every time a Vision is flashed

Have you tried the CB? While running the stock software, my CB would not let me transmit for over six seconds.

Like Kevin said.....the dealer has to download all of the updates for the radios from the Internet and install them in the Digital Wrench (laptop) computer. This make take some time. Once that is complete, they plug into the Vision and upgrade the Radio, CB and the other components that need a flash.

Take Care

Well they are both right. The cables ALL suck, but if you secure the iPod you won't have any problems

I have 4.13a on my radio. I do not have the CB. I asked my dealer about updating and I was told that Vic said it would mess up what I had if the radio was upgraded to 5.13. I was told 5.13 was only for radios with CBs. Is this true?

This does not sound right to me. Maybe someone can confirm this one way or the other.

You might loose your presets on the stations but that is no big deal.

Bone's according to Victory tech support they have a new "something" (I'm assuming download) which should handle your "lockout" issue. As described to me there are too many demands at the CAN on startup so the system locks out the least important (radio). They recommend you shut the radio off before shutting the bike down, and turn it on after the bike is running. I was told the new "something" would be available to the dealers in approx 3 weeks.
If you forget and it locks on you shut the ignition off and then back on. It can take several times until the radio free's up, I've gone as many as 15 times. Once it comes on turn the power button on the radio off, start the bike and then repower the radio. Frustrating? Yes but you'll have your radio.
