I modified a Genie remote for my garage door and needed switched power. After digging around a bit under the front valance (metal trim) I followed the power wire from the center headlight (the switched light on the center console) and low and behold, there is a switch power lead and ground right in front - VERY accessible.

If you pull off the valance, look for a two wire plug directly up front that has a black wire and a pink wire with a green stripe. The plug has a rubber cap on it.

I tapped into the pink/green wire for 12 volt power, the black wire for ground. (or you could ground to the aluminum frame up front)

I suspect that this plug is for aux. lights.

So now i flip the center light switch on the console and the garage door opens and closes :-)

I hope this helps if switched power is needed.

You want to give up how you did this, with the garage door opener.

Just a question: For those who have the premium tour; I guess the voltage is picked off that switch before
it is stepped up to mega volts for the HID. Gut tells me 12V. Does it make a difference when flashing the HID?
Is it ok to do that w/o affecting reliability?
