There's been plenty of hoopla on Mike's article, both pro & con. What's your opinion?

• Should he have complied with Victory (and never made keys and taken it on the road)?

• What would you do if you were Victory?

• Do you think his actions helped or hurt Victory?

I don't think he won any popularity contests with the mothership, but I think the buzz it has created certainly didn't hurt anything. Stories like this are great 10 years down the road when they are part of a companies history.

Had the bike been shipped with keys, I think I'd be a supporter of Mike's actions...but as he had to have keys made for the bike, I feel his actions were wrong. It takes quite the guy to write about doing so, at the possible cost of sanctions from Victory to him and/or his dealership.

Also, riding the bike took bravery (or something else), as it is possible that Victory could have "sent something that DIDN'T work."

As for the article, however, it is a tremendous piece of work, and I hope it is online for a long time--not to show someone thumbing their nose at Victory's requests--but an article that looks very deeply into the function of a new motorcycle that was likely a pre-production model. I think the article will sell some bikes (the experience already did), and in the long run, no harm was done.

I'd still be ticked if I were corporate, however.

I liked the writeup but I'm not so sure I would have done what Mike did, but that's just me. I get my "demo" ride this Saturday 07-28-07 in Atlanta,Ga & can tell you I've been waiting for this day to come ever since I signed up for it. I bought a 2000 v92SC to ride 'til my VisTour comes. I hadn't ridden in over 30 yrs, so I figured the SportCruiser would be a good experience to get me accustomed to a "big" bike (my previous was a Honda 550 Sport w/ fairing which only weighed abt 450 lbs). I hope the Vision Tour is everything I've read ! Especialy sp? the "light handling". My SC is really heavy for me (I'm 60 BTW) & doesn't handle as well as my Honda did. I'll post my impressions next week after my ride. Thanks for listening lol Luke

You really need to know Mike. The folks at Victory told the engineers who prepaired the Vision they sent to Mike to make sure there is no way for him to get it running. They have had other experiences with Mike regarding this type of scenario... They said they had taken care of it and assured the powers at be there is no way to get it going. When he called and told me to stop by the shop, I was amazed to hear it running. I can also speak to some degree of certianty that what he did sold 20+ Visions that weekend...including mine. Rest assured, Victory spanked him pretty hard, but through it all they couldn't argue with the positive results gained after the fact...As far as Victory is concerned it's all in the past now and it's time to sell some bikes.

I just put a deposit on mine today (Cherry Tour). The dealer here in Memphis is letting me have his pre-production bike (due in Sept). It will be the only one in town for about a month.

Although I don't condone all that Mike and his cronies did with the bike, I'm sure it will go down as one of the most brutal shakedowns of any new model in history. It is very comforting to know that they couldn't break it.

My login name is a tribute to Michael Song and his engineering/design team. Looks like they really got it right.

Great article.

I can't wait to be the Pied Piper for this thing.

You can find it under the Articles section of this site....Title of the article is "The Victory Vision: First (Unauthorized) Ride". It was a very entertaining article indeed.

Happy reading.

What was the porpose of sending a bike thats not supposed to be ridden? I'm not saying what he did was right, but who could resist that temptation? I got more out of that article than I have been able to get out of Victory. I got my reservation confomation at the beginning of July and havent heard a thing from Victory since. After reading that article at least I know theyre actually building them. Demo rides are scheduled for december in my area. I expected to have mine by then. It would be very tempting to demo ride one home if mine hasnt been delivered by then.
I have to admit I enjoyed reading an unbiased account of the Vision. This is stuff you wont see in promotional ads.
