| OK...gotta be honest...livin up here we get teased by the weather and then your patience gets tested. Got my bike out for three decent rides in March and then we get several more snows and cold and you go back to looking at the bike parked in the garage for three straight weeks. Then you get the itch after reading these threads to order some stuff online for biking and it gets delivered...but it's still cold. Then you open it up and start touching your stuff…window shades pulled down of course…and then you loose control and gotta do something about it. So...on Saturday was beautiful out (NOT)...sunny, not much wind and 46 but I put on my new purchases firmly strapped on and hit the road. With my new stuff working better than I thought it would...and a "what the hell was I thinking moment"...I lasted an hour and a half and returned to the garage not uncomfortable at all...it was a whopping 48 now! So the "what the hell" moment was when I was riding for about 15 minutes in my new chaps and I realized CHAPS FREAKIN ROCK! I never considered buying a set of chaps because I thought you had to be a no-mind-follow-the-pack-lemming and ride a HD to be seen wearing chaps...I see them all the time…walking around in a bar wearing chaps not biking of course…but I did my homework I will share and can't believe what I was missing. Just a pair of jeans and my chaps and I was really comfortable...didn't even use the seat heater. But I was wearing my new helmet and breaking it in that I got from ElroyJ...yup the dude from this blogisphere...totally a great guy and am really digging my new helmet...and wearing my new Chippewa 27862 riding boots...love the looks and now I love the performance…got my grip heaters on low and just digging myself! So towards the end of the drive I did what you all have done...yes you have to admit it...stopped at an intersection in this little town of like 80 people but has about two blocks on main street of street stores with the big dark reflective windows and noticed myself sitting there on the SSG Vision, bright sunny day, new chaps, new boots and color matching new fighter pilot helmet...well what can I say....I just simply looked...BITCHIN! Chippewa boots 27862 from http://www.justinbootstore.com/...retail price $274...got them for $163. Helmet by ElroyJ....give Jimmy a hollar if you want a cool fighter pilot DJET helmet...just look him up on the search here. AND GO BITCHIN RIDING! Hey Chris...thanks for the offer. You aren't too far off...what day is our summer...and not much longer than that either. However; when I retire I will make my residence in eastern Tennessee...eastern Kentucky or western NC...but will be sure to come back to WI every summer. Our state and summers are really quite awesome! We'll be glad to take a ride if you make it all the way up here! | |||
