I just spoke with Andrew Preston of Bushtec, who told me they have completed development of the prototype hitch for the Vision as of today.  Now they will have to prepare for actual production, figure pricing based on material and labor costs, and develop installation directions.

Bottom line:  The hitch should be available sometime after the first of the year; probably mid to late January timeframe (subject to change, of course).  I have no idea what the price of it will be.

Difficulty of installation:  Still not sure until they install a completed one on my bike when the first actual one is produced.  It will have no drilling involved - it is designed to be all bolt-on, but there will be tight clearances under the side bags and around the belt drive, so they don't yet know exactly how difficult it will be (they had everything off the back of my bike to facilitate development).

Electrical connection:  They plan to make it a plug-and-play.  The only difficulty is that the 8-pin connection that Victory is using is not as readily available as other types out there.

The look:  It will be a receiver hitch designed such that you won't even be able to see it until you put the actual hitch in the receiver.  Pretty neat!  It has been tested for clearance at both extremes of the suspension adjustment.

Now I just have to pick up my bike so I can get back in the wind on it.  I'll have to wait till actual production starts to get my hitch, just like the rest of you .

Contacted him Monday.  He said they had taken off a couple of weeks over the holidays and are working on the first article and fixtures this week.  He is trying to get the first one done for me and installed on my bike before I leave for a one-year tour in Kuwait (I start processing for it in less than two weeks).  Here's hoping I get the hitch on my Vision and get to try out the trailer before I leave!

Lone Ranger,

Stay safe and hurry home quick.

Tim

Thanks.  I'm really going to miss my Vision while I'm over there.  Haven't really had it long, and it gets to be stored for a year.  Bummer.  Oh, well, it gives me something to look forward to!

Hey if it really bums you out to store it for that long. I can hold on to it for you till mine gets fixed. I can take pictures of it, like the roaming Gnome, of its many travels. I can keep it on the battery charger and weekly washes, so real TLC. Putting in a Storage Bin all dark and lonely, what a travshamockery. I'm here for you and your Vision.

A friend of mine took my bike back to Bushtec a  couple of weeks ago so they can do all the final touches and fittings and develop the instructions.  It doesn't really matter to me how long it takes them to get it right, since I won't be riding till next February or so.  Y'all should be hearing from Bushtec pretty soon, I'm guessing.
