| Took my 85 year old mother inlaw on a ride today. First time shes ever been on a motorcycle. I guess my father inlaw was not going to be out done, so he went for a ride also. He is 83. They both had a lot of fun. I have never been more nervous riding in my life. The thought of something going wrong.....my wife would never forgive me. Now my mother in-law wants to shoot a gun. I feel a trip to the gun range may be coming later in the week. All I can say is ......good for them. Most people would never even try at that age. |

Arkansas | Wanted to do that for my mom, but she was just too brittle by the time I had the proper bike. Did get to take her on a few airplane rides though. She had once been up in a P-51 in the late 1940's when Dad was flying them in the Air Guard.

Reno County, KS | Good for you focus! The first time my future Mother in law was on a bike was mine this Summer. Actually first time my GF, her 4 sisters and numerous others were on one was on the back of my bike. I have a thing for getting people on my bike when they've never rode before. Nothing serious, just a put around town to makes beleivers out of them I guess. Anyway, I just lost my Mom 12 days ago, she was only 53. The day after Xmas would have been 54. She loved motorcycles and owned her own when I was in my teens. Years ago she mentioned she wanted her ashes scattered in the ocean so I'll be taking her back to Santa Monica Peir this Summer. I think my Dad is wantig to ride along too. I gave him my other bike earlier this year and he's convinced he's going to ride with me on that V-Star. Maybe I can get him on a tour bike to make it happen (about 4K mi round trip). If nothing else, HD rents em. I may have to rent one for myself too if Polaris can't get their stuff together and send me some parts that have been on order for over 3 months. I did this route via Vision about 3 or 4 months ago so I know it's not going to be cake for him to run through the desert in the Summer time on a bar hopper. Anyway, it will be interesting to say he least since he's as hard-headed as I am.

, FL United States | My "bucket list" goes something like this:
1 Buy a good touring bike - DONE got my Vis 11-17-07 & 189xx sMiles so far
2 Travel West from Florida to see the following; Painted Desert, the Four Corners, the Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, ride some of OLD Route 66, see the Pacific Ocean & ride some of the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) - DONE earlier this year
3 Still to go; Mount Rainier, visit my Grandson in Portland,Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North & South Dakota, Chicago, New England And if my health holds up & I can get a passport, some of Canada. *I plan to go to the National Victory Meet in Billings then on to Sturgis this summer.*
This is why I retired 12-28-07. Couldn't really afford to take the cut in Social Security but needed to start SEEING some stuff before my health goes. |
