I went for a short ride this afternoon. The bike started and ran normally, but I guess I didn't check the displays. I pulled out on the main cross street, looked down and had no speed or tach. Needles on zero. I looked at the LCD and had no gear display. I did have time, temp and odometer. I pulled over, turned ignition off. Restarted and same thing. Needeles gave a slight jump when I set the ignition to ON. Turned off, waited a few seconds, turned it back on - same thing. Turned it off, waited about 10 seconds, turned it back on, everything worked normally. I made several stops and the problem never showed again. Temp was 46 - 48 out.

Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else? I don't remember seeing this in a discussion thread and a search didn't show anything.

Don't think I've ever see a hair of a mention of this ever happeneing to anyone.

About the only idea I can possibly come up with is maybe its a key cylinder contact issue? Go out and try playing with the key a bit and see if you can replicate the problem? Maybe don't quite put the key all the way in, or put it in and turn the cylinder and then slightly pull out on the key.

Heck....I have no idea...I'm just shooting in the dark here. I'm just giving ya something to do for 10 minutes till someone with a better idea comes along. I'll probably crap if my idea is even close.

It happened to me once before the ignition switch recall. Not since. I am in the habit of giving the ignition switch a shot of WD-40 after washing or once a week if it goes dirty.

Happened to me.
Display won't work until I disconnected the battery for a few seconds. Victory had the dealer do a reflash... it worked.
