Thanks to all for your service.

I never had the pleasure, but I watched my daughter graduate USN OCS in Newport RI last week, and now she's off to Pensacola. Which gives us a good excuse to ride across the country.

Air Force Nov 1972 - Nov 1976. Basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, radar tech school in Biloxi, MS, then my final 3 years in paradise at Cambria AFS, CA (near Hearst Castle on the Central California coast). Thanks to all for our service. My step son just returned from his THIRD deployment to Iraq as an Army MP. He's back for good now, and will be exiting the Army 1/1/09 - his enlistment was up on 1/1/08, but he got caught up in that "stop loss" thing, and got a third chance to go to the land o' sand.....

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!
Thank you  all and your families, for your service and sacrifices. I was never abl e to serve dues to physical problems, but my father was USN during the Cuban Missle Crisis, my grandfather was USN in WWII. My stepson deploys for Kuwait next week, after re-enlisting after a 4 year hiatus (He made E-5 last week. Yay!) He was USN for 4 years (aboard the USS Lincoln when GW Bush landed on it and gave his pep talk...). He's currently US Customs, but will be reactivated in the USN upon his return in 6 months

GAGirlTrixie, You do serve, and we owe folks like you so much. Signing up and serving the country is difficult, but having a family that supports them and takes pride in their accomplishments is priceless. Being deployed to places hostile and foreign is extremely stressful and can be emotionally draining but the stress can melt away with a letter from home or a picture of family to look at, when times seem unbearable. I always made getting troops their mail a top priority. The moral boost troops get when they get a letter from home is worth more than anything the local commander can offer. So for all the families that serve behind the lines, you are our secret weapon for success. Even if you don't agree with the politics or reasons our folks are asked to do what they do, remember they took an oath to uphold the orders of the government they serve without regard to political affiliation. So our folks in uniform have put aside their politics to provide selfless service to a country they love. If you have a problem with the war or whatever our brave folks are asked to do, don't take it out on them, but instead cast your vote and make your voice heard to the politicians that are responsible.

I'll be riding on Veterans' Day so I want to say thank you to all of my fellow comrades and those who support the military. Thank-you. I got this email today that some may want to take avantage of. Keep in mind that Golden Corral does not ask for proof of service, they expect people to be honest. They also have a donation bucket to helps veterans. Sadly, I've never been able to go but those who have says it is a great gesture. The lines will be long so have your war stories ready. Ride on with Freedom!

Varyrider, unfortunately, none of our Applebees resurants in the liberal Washington State are participating in the Veterans day thing. Oh, well... we also just had an incident where a woman was displaying a banner on her house thanking veterans, and the very next day her house was vandalized with spray paint saying "big deal". I am SO glad I went to fight so they could do that.
On another note, I will post some links to pics of my "vacation" in Iraq a year ago. Enjoy!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY! I was proud to serve and thank you all that served as well. The Veteran Riders post is full of true heros an it brings moistness to my eyes knowing that there are many who ride that also serve our country. Motorcycling has its roots in the military you know. If you are really into riding, know your history on it, that it was veterans returning from the war that took to the open road on two wheels that has brought us to where we are today.

I STAND TO SALUTE YOU! Airborne! All the Way!

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
