Was just wondering if I can use the stock light with a lay-down plate. Would love to get the cheap one from Noemtz, screw it in, and just go. But someone online said the plate would not be visible with only the factory plate lighting.

Has anyone done this? If so, was your plate visible?

I bought a similar lay down plate from HMD and since the both use the stock mounting screws, mine lays directly over the light. I had to remove the light lens and tie the license led wiring into the light wiring harness. No easy way of routing the wiring other than between the V-panel or the light lenses. Use heat shrink tubing to protect the wires.

Yep; I have the same issue. I've bought the LED light put just haven't made a bracket to install it yet; over the license plate:

this is what I used. I did file a little slot in clear lens and wired into light wire. The LED is bright

These are LED bolts which shine out the side, and they look very good.

Making it too difficult. Get a $9.99 strip of ribbon led and put it on the face of the plate itself around the outer edges.

Then take your plastic chrome looking lic plate frame cover.

Turn Your license plate frame bracket over and put a drill bit on its side. Make drill sized groves on the back side of the lic plate frame where each led is. (Rears the center removing a bit of plastic lip).

PUT a Teflon washer between the lic plate and the lic plate frame.

Those notches will allow the LED to shine up into the back side of the lic plate frame and out each notch you made towards the center of the plate. Thus a Glowing plate.

Note. Make the notchs towards the inside or middle area not the outer edge. Light will illuminate plate by glow yet now around the outer edge.

A dremmel works too. Run wires to back side. Think ice cream sandwich

Or you can pick up this ultra thin type LED panels that are kinda flexible for $3.99. about 5 inch long. 1/16 thick.
Peel and stick, water proof. Ultra-thin 6W COB Chip is what its called
