So i go pick up my new 08 Vision Premuim yesterday. I'm out riding yesterday and i dont even have 50 miles on it when i look down and see some oil on the crank/primary case. I can see what looks like oil coming out from between the rear heads/jug near the rear exhaust port. I'm thinking ok it's just from it being new and some extra grease/oil was just spent from it settling in. I wipe it up and jump on the freeway and put another 20 miles on it and stop and look again and now it's really got oil on case and rear head and it actully had enough that it was dripping on the ground near oil filter. I'm thinking WTF!!! So then I try and go and get a rag out from my rear side bag. WTF now that wont open. I push on the button nothing happens. I made sure the side bag is not locked and it just wont open. I try the other side same thing. After playing with them for a few minutes i get one open just to see that the rubber around both bags are causing the mechanism inside to not allow the buttom system to go all the way down so it will open. Now im starting to get pissed. So i get her home and it's to late to call the dealers of course. I then go to pull her in the garage and i cant get the fu--ing key to turn on.
I have to mess with that for 30 seconds just to turn the damn bike on. So here i am thinking what the hell have i done buying this so called top of the line victory bike. I had a kick ass 06 Nomad with zero problems that cost me $12K back in 06 and never never had any issue with it like this or any of the prevouis bikes i have owned at half the cost.
I traded in my 06 for this bike and I'm starting really regretting the move i have made coming to the victory line. I spent almost $23,500 with tax on this new bike and so far I'm not happy at all with my experince with this new line of bike. I am taking it back to the dealer and if they say they need to rebuild my back head im going to ask for a new bike since I'm not paying for new bike to have a rebuilt motor in it thats for damn sure.

Anyone else experince the same things I have or did i just end up with a lemon????????????? this is not starting out good for a new victory owner thats for sure.

First off, I'm sorry that you are having problems like this with your bike. Several of us have had some minor problems, but this sounds pretty serious. Sounds like you got the brother of Teach's bike.

Seconly, I like to say don't give up on the Vision or Victory yet. They really are good bikes. The best I've ever ridden in my 20+ years of experience. Hopefully the dealer finds that it's just a simple problem, sort of like the folks that had leaky oil sending units. If it is something more serious, like your fear that they'll have to rebuild the jug or whole engine, I'd recommend having the dealer exchange it for another Vision. There's really no excuse for having a serious failure like that within 50 miles. If that had been a new GM car that was leaking oil that badly they would have put a new engine in it.

ok all here is what i found out this morning. I do have a head leak. pretty bad one at that. when i showed up this morning from just a 10 mile ride i had oil on my seat and down my left saddle bag, etc. The dealership looked at and was shocked to see that. They said they have never seen a head oil leak on any new victory ever. They pulled it into there shop ASAP. The owner came out and said to me if it is just a loose head bolt which they think thats all it is and that it wasnt tighten at the factory or the head gasket got pinched they will fix it and make darn sure it dont leak again. But if they think it's more than that he said they will pull another black Vision Premuim out from the crate today and switch all my new chrome stuff over to the new one and even install my new stage one Level one exhaust on it that i orderd and they got in late yesterday. I knida hope they just pull the new bike out of the crate and give me that one and they keep this one for a demo bike like he said. So thats where i am sitting today folks one day after getting my vision. I'm glad they are stepping up and taking care of me becasue after spending the cash i did I would think nothing less than what they are doing is fair.

Sorry to hear about that unfortunate experience. For what it's worth, this is certainly a rare
incident, not just with victory.I know of 2 other similar experiences with my friends locally, who had severe fluid leaks from
other manufacturers.Namely Iconic HD and Kawasaki. If Victory stands by their brand and I'm sure they will,it will be rectified.Keep us posted!

Please keep us updated. In my opinion, only one Vision has had a major issue posted on this site. A Vision sent to the UK had a split front cylinder replaced. The Cylinder split on the casting if I remember correctly.

Below is the thread on that issue.

You should ride a Harley. Severe fluid leaks are a way of life! Having said that, I am sorry to hear about your problems and am hopeful the dealer makes it right quickly. I just love my Vision, and while I have had a few minor bugs, I would not want to ride anything else. Good luck!

OK here is what happen and i'm very happy with the out come.

Well they just called me and they said that there is more wrong with it than they intailly thought (just a head gasket) and they talked to victory, my bank and have decide to just give me a whole another Black premuim bike right out of the crate. I guess Victory headquaters wants to know why this happen and have asked to have them to write up in eval of the cause of the major problem and send it to them.. They (Victory) said they are covering the charge for my dealer to move all my chrome over to my new bike and install my Stage 1 level 1 exhaust since they (my dealer) got it in today. So the dealer stepped up and took care of me by giving me another bike and not making do or pay for anything which is fair and right in my book. They said they will have it ready with my new exhaust kit and remap by tomorrow late afternoon. So Im very happy about that and cant wait to hear it with the new pipes and ride it all weekend locally since our trip To Reno for Street Vibrations Rally on the new vision was supposed to happen on it today and we had to cancel our plans last night. ARHHG so kinda bummed about that and so were our friends we were meeting down there.
Thanks all for your words of advice and encourgment with the victory line. I just happen to get one that had an issue and stuff like that just happens in life. So all is good.

Glad to hear Victory stepped to the plate and got you squared around.  It seems they really do have a good reputation for dealing with any issues.

Go ahead and enjoy it now!

Again thanks for all the great feed back guys/gals. I will let you all know how my new-new 08 is it by tomorrow night LOLOLOL. I should have it by then. Now my wife wants one of the Vision Street models. She was just as happy how the dealer stepped up. She rides her own bike as well. So thats why I will always give him/them my business even if they may be higher in price becasue they are dealer.. Loyalty and honor always gets my dollar... :-)

It's been said over and over here that a good dealer is worth his weight in gold in the land of Victory.  Guys with a whole laundry list of problems are still hanging in there with a positive outlook because they know their dealer will eventually make it right.  There are other guys (and gals) who have weak or marginal dealers and even the most minor issue can be a real pain.  (Can't change the oil correctly VisionTex?  Unbefrickenlievable.)

We all took a big chance with the Vision.  Even though I have a great bike with basically no issues I am still thankful every day for a really great dealer within 20 miles of my house.  If I had the same issue as you when I got my bike last fall there is no doubt in my mind that my dealer would have done the same thing.

Good story.  Actually makes a more powerful statement about what the Victory experience can be.  Hats off to your dealer.  Great job.

Something I don't understand. I assume before you bought your Vision you did your homework? You read up about Victory and got an idea of the background the dependability of the bikes. In that case if know that every Victory is run on a dyno before it leaves the factory. This leads into when you noticed oil that you did turn around go right back to the dealer? When is the last anyone bought a new vehicle and had to let it break in before the all the gaskets sealed? Babbit bearing engines?

My suggestion is that anytime you buy a new vehicle you take it for a test drive. Heck, it's paid for, registered and insured. Go out for a 1/2 hour or so and go back to the dealer and look over it. Check to make everything works properly. This should save a lot of headaches in the future.
Victory and most of the dealers have always taken great care of me and my bikes over the years. The dealers that weren't so good aren't in business anymore.

BlueOx USA,
On a previous post, he did note that the bike was Demo. So I would be sure there was more than 500 miles on it.

As for comments about dealers, i have to say i am glad i have a great dealer myslef only 4 miles from the house. The tech is really decent to talk to and deal with also. Oh wait, i am the tech. lol

Man, you have got a good dealer there. Make sure anything you buy from Victory you get through them, rather than the Vic website or somewhere else. Do what you can to support them. I am so glad to hear that they are taking care of you and that you'll be on the road soon.

It was not a demo at all. I got it with only 4 miles on it. They said they may use the one that had the defective head they sold me as a demo if they can fix it. Sorry for any confusion or miss reading in my post.

Well I got my new vision and catn be happier. They got my new exhaust/map on it and did all the recall notices on it and and made sure it was fine. So far I'm a very happy customer and if all victory dealers treat me as mine did they will have a life long customer hands down. Couldnt be happier about my new Black Vision. She runs just like a dream. Only got 20 miles on her now. We will really run her out tomorrow.

chuck, I just gotta ask....Is the dealer in question Allsport, Thunder Alley, Guy's? We need to wave their flag and let others know who it is.
I for one have now had my Vision 31 days and put 2700+ miles on it. Love it. Got mine from Brad and Guy at Guy's in Lewiston, ID.
