Does anyone know what signals the LCD gear change display? Mine will not display 5th until I've ridden 5 or 10 miles - then it starts working OK. The display stays in either 4th or 6th depending if I'm changing up or down. The feller who wrote the Death Valley trip article had the same problem - only for 4th gear. Because the problem disappears after a few miles, I presume warming up the offending component cures the problem.
cheers

Mine, for the most gets it right. I've really never came to rely on it though and I don't want to spend the next year trying to get it right only for it to go whacking again. It is indeed a nice perk but I only look at it because it is there. I'm sure there is some cam dealy that makes it tick and it is of course electronic, so there is a mixed signal somewhere. Mine will display N and the green light is not even on. Neutral, I'll never trust the indicator. As the Winger would say when asked "What does the green light mean?" The response is "That the green light is on." because it too had it's share of electronic indicator problems.

Right after I purchased my MCTP the gear display refused to show 6th gear no matter what the circumstances. I think I saw 6th once or twice but after I saw it NOT showing it I made a stop at the dealer who in turn ordered the "sending unit" and replaced it a week or so later and no troubles since This being a first year model it is not too surprising that there might be a bug or two involved but I have to say that the dealer and Victory have stood by their product and made it right no matter what the glitch was I have nothing but praise to give about this machine and am VERY pleased with my decision to but my "retirement bike" six or seven years before I retire and set out to see whatever I haven't seen yet.

Mine did that just one day all day. Then never again. I mentioend it to a tech and theytold me the following. There is a selector switch in the trany. The plating on the components sometines does not provide good contiunity, so it gets confuse. I was told I could fix it or make it better by removing it and grinding off the plating.
I did nothing though.

Mine was perfect for six months. The dealer has replace the sensor with no improvement. They ordered another switch. On backorder now. Could Victory be trying to redesign? Second dealer said they all do it and there is no fix. Not buying it! If I had my service manual, I would attempt it myself, but that has been on backorder for two months.

Yup - been waiting that long for my service manual. I've got a feeling my dealer dosen't want me to have one. I'm half tempted to buy a bootleg one from ebay.

There's a nut case on ebay selling them lately.
Careful with him, you'll find you will be biding against the seller. (he's not very good at hiding the fact that he's biding against you)
