Another Vision-Riders scoop...I almost didn't want to type these words for fear it would not be true, but...

The MBW LED Tail Light AND Front directionals are now in production

I've received these words directly from MBW:

...this ain't vaporware , but our initial production run has long been spoken for. With the amount of time/labor required to assembly these ... it's gonna take us a while to catch up with everyone that wants one, but it's fantasy NO MORE!"

"Our front and rear LED turn signals for the Victory VISION will be available in a variety of configurations that will allow the end user to choose what lense color (Euro clear or stock amber front, and Euro clear or stock red rear) in addition to having either hyper white or amber running lights in the front. Flash patterns will be user-selectable for the ultimate in individual customization.

You can check out the MBW Vision page:
http://www.mbwmotorcycle.com/products/vision.html

Some Details:
  • The different light patterns are user selectable
  • Made in America by Americans
  • Hand-assembled one unit at a time
  • Running lights are the outline of LEDs on the tail light, and the bottom row of LEDs on the front directionals.
  • Will be available in different configurations based on lens color
  • The video shows the rear lights with red lenses and clear lenses on the front lights (in case you were wondering). The still photo below show a clear rear lens.
  • MBW is planning on selling these direct retail off their site at some point, but for now our normal dealers and distributors, including Radiantz will have them for sale.
  • They're turn key plug and play units.
  • Pricing TBA

And some videos:

Those are pretty neat, but I wish they would have shown one more view and that was with a turn signal flashing and the brakes on.

I would need to see them on a bike in person.

My first thought was I was watching the casino billboards in Las Vegas. Almost over the top. Was waiting for it to start flashing 10X odds or $1.29 Ham & Eggs.

Like I said, I want to see them in person on a bike.

The announcement is pretty vague...the initlal production run has long been spoken for? When, what and how many units? Its already been noted that no release date is available, when it becomes available, what is the expected eta on their second run. There is no mention regarding pre-orders. Companies always have a revenue release and GA/General Availability. Still too many red flags....it may not be vaporware but it sounds like its still in the jello stage?

Its also interesting that MBW is making a reactionary response due to recent customer inquiries vs being proactive in letting folks know when and at what price point.

Sounds like the same old stuff they've been posting for the past 3 years. At this point, even if I had the money, I wouldn't buy a set. If they've had all these problems so far (with basically zero communication), what makes anyone think warranty issues would ever be taken care of? What if you have problems with the installation? Just because MBW as a company has been around for a while, that doesn't mean they'll stand behind their product. GIVE me a set and I'd think about it. Try to SELL me a set and I'll do with the stock lights.

I agree with Monkeyman.

We'll never see MBW's lights hit the market for sale.

Contructive criticism for MBW. The flash rate is WAY too fast to be effective. About 1/2 that would be better.

They still look very cool ( I really like the idea ) but videos mean nothing these days, especially when different variations of it ( the video ) have been around for three years with no product to sell. Show up at Daytona Bike Week, Sturgis, Laughlin and Biketoberfest to show off your stuff. Have enough to sell and install. MBW may have missed the "window" for the "I gotta have those things" feelings..............I'd have to see them in person to put down the big $$$$$ they're gonna want for this product or be number 100 after rave reviews..........

except for the DIY ExLED modules, there certainly isn't any competition for these. If they can really come out with a plug n play product, even with the delays, they'll still sell a bunch.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, okie. Because of their lack of product and lack of communication, there are quite a few that are pretty skeptical about both the actual product and the possible warranty issues. Their track record sucks. Even if I had a spare $1000 (which I don't), I wouldn't feel comfortable buying them. Now, if someone like Witchdoctors or HMD were to market them, I might reconsider (again, if I had the money) only because of their stellar reputations. If there was a problem, they would take care of it even if MBW didn't. I honestly think the only way they'll ever sell any is to remarket them. (All this is assuming they're not lying about the product again.)

I'm not saying there will be a line waiting to crash down the doors but there's a bunch of newer Vision owners everyday, not just those of us that have been waiting on these things for a couple years. Don't you remember how pumped everyone was when this surfaced way back? I just feel that this time, working with Radiantz, this will be a quality product, and if that's true, I still think they'll be very popular, especially for owners that weren't waiting on them when they were first announced and ended up disgruntled. Time will (or won't, lol) tell.

They will never market them to the general public. Cease holding your breath over the availability of them. You have a better chance of dying and being buried; rather than seeing these lights available.

It was so long ago that I stumbled across the second or third thread on them after I started investigating a possible Victory buy. I have owned my Vision since Mid-May so you figure it out. Any new owner who takes the time to research will find threads like this and probably get a feel for how long they have been nothing but vaporware. Add in the extreme cost and I doubt many will ever sell without both a sample for people to actually see in person and a vendor that people trust.

IMHO, these lights may never make it to market since they're a safety features on a motorcycle, I'm guessing that they must be tested and certified in every state. It may be too bright and blinding or even a distraction in some states and really, how many Visions do you think are on the road? I was reading something last year that it took Victory 15 years to sell 200,000 motorcycles. The good thing was, it took the first 10 years to sell the first 100k, and only 5 years to sell the 2nd 100k (probably because of the Vision, XC, and XCT). Anybody else know about the number of Victorys on the road or annual sales numbers?

oh believe me.. i said the same thing years ago..... PA has some laws related to how far a brake light can be from a turn signal when in use... how do i know? cause I Failed inspection a few years ago on one of my other motorcycles.. so i learned real quick.. just because someone sells something for your motorcycle doesnt mean it is legal.... btw im talking about my old lights not these...

The separation issue is a federal law. You got hit because your state actually does inspections based on the law. In many places, like me in Illinois, I would need to get pulled over either for a major issue or for a much more obvious equipment problem before the subject would even come up. They seem to let things be without comment as long as you don't do anything unsafe here. State to state variations definitely come into play for mods that are technically illegal under federal law. An example is exhaust noise. Any exhaust that is noisier than bone stock is illegal under federal law but few places are even close to that strict. The federal law is why almost all after market exhausts are marked for off road use only.

I rarely see other visions during the riding year. I may see 30 in Daytona during Bike Week and 20 during Biketoberfest. If and when I see one with these lights installed I'll make it a point to talk to the owner. Till then it just as someone else said "vaporware". I do appreciate you bringing it to our attention though Jeff..........
