I have an 08 vision. Would like to put one in, preferably a hand held one that mounts to the handlebars but I haven't a clue where I would attach a firestick antenna. Anyone have any ideas about where you put the antenna.

The factory CB radios mount the antenna to the side of the trunk. It is a NGP type (non-ground plane) similar to the ones used on fiberglass boats. Since the Vision is plastic bodied, there is no ground plane. A regular FireStik antenna won't work, but Firestik does make an NGP antenna.

I have a J&M on mine and used the "Harley" antenna that J&M carries. The antenna lays down in your front cowling, no drilling holes. It doesn't has the range of the larger side mount antenna but works ok for me.

Speaking from experience, don't waste any time trying to get a factory unit for the 08, you will get zero support from Ma Vic.

J&M also makes a license plate bracket mount, which bolts to your license plate bracket. I do not know if it would clear the trunk, but you could probably extend it with a piece of strap iron. http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=LPCBA-300

If you have a trunk and a luggage rack, you could mount an antenna to the rack.

Thanks for the replies guys. I just went down to Firestick in Phoenix today and purschased a no ground plane 3' antennna that I am going to mount tomorrow. (Incidentally, Rick at Firestick was very, very helpful. Those guys are nice people and are a pleasure to deal with.) Will find out how well it works when my cb radio arrives in the next few days hopefully. Bought a Midland handheld that I had mounted on a Kawasaki 2000 last year but it had a grounded firestick. We shall see.

I would be interested in how well that works, and if possible post some pics when you are finished mounting.

If you go with the factory CB here are a couple helpful hints concerning the headset jack. Use 11/16 spade drill for wood on the plastic and buy a step drill for the aluminum drivers hole Harbor Freight has one for $5.99 part #44460

The antenna mount Victory sells is exactly like the firestik mount M2. Take a look at clays cb shop, they have the ngp side molded mount for the trunk with antenna and cable.
