What are my options for a new saddle on my 08? Mine is starting to rip at the seams. I like the fit and LOVE the heat, but I don't the see it lasting too much longer.
I have a Mustang on my HD and it is of great quality. Leather of course.
I will need to keep the heat on my replacement. Does anyone make a good quality heated seat? Is leather ok with heat? Or should I stick with vinyl?

Thanks, Ron

Why not check in with a local upholstery shop? If you like the existing seat I bet they could recover it for you at a reasonable cost. Leather is a definite option if you are OK with the maintenance that real leather will require. You will no longer just wipe off a wet seat and ride, you need to treat leather properly or it will degrade over time. Little things like regularly oiling it to maintain its water resistance are important.

Corbin makes the Smuggler solo (sort of) seat for the Vision. It's that or stock. If you like the stock seat and the cover is just ripping, you can probably have it recovered (in vinyl) for about $60. If the padding is worn, there are places (like Astech or MeanCityCycles) that may be able to repair/customize it. If the whole thing is just shot, any Vision seat will work. Minor differences in '10 (slightly less dishing but the addition of a hole for a backrest).

I noticed my 08 is coming apart at the seams as well. I don't think it's covered under the 5 year extended warranty though :-( and it's been a great seat!

I invested in a Russell Cycle Products seat a few months back. All I can say its the best investment I've made to date (of course the perf upgrades trumps everything). I can ride for hours and hours in complete comfort. With the OEM seat, after half a hour, the back of my lower butt would start becoming very uncomfortable. I went with a vinyl covering per RCP's recommendation due to upkeep and maintenance of leather vs vinyl. The vinyl is high quality.

Another option is a seat off the Vision 8ball. It sits about an inch lower and has a higher back support than stock. It is much more firm than the stock seat which equals much longer rides. I used this for a year or so before pulling the trigger on the Russell Meyer seat. You will lose the heat with the 8ball seat though...

I contacted 2 local upholstery places, one wanted $175.00 for vinyl recover, and the other wanted $450.00 for marine grade recover or add another $300.00 for leather!
I think I will keep on looking.
