Just finished doing my first oil change on the Vision. I did not have to use a jack and my pan fit under the engine. The easiest oil change I have done in recent memory. The only tool I needed was the allen to remove the drain plug. Careful, the crossover stays hot longer than the rest of the exhaust. Guess how I found that out.
I glad I did it myself and saw the oil. 2800 miles on it and it look like crap. Will deter me going over on the interval.

That crossover sure does stay hot. The burn on my right forearm from the last oil change is almost healed....just in time for the next oil change.

Just make sure you fill and check the oil with the bike sitting upright, not on the sidestand.

I just changed mine also. Yes the crossover is hot. How much oil did you put in it? I put in 4 Qts and 16 Oz and it was over filled. and had to suck some out.

Just for your information, when changing oil on the vision and it is at operating temp and put on a table lift or a wheel chock type stand to keep the bike in an upright position and allowed time to drain well with the filter and oil plug out, you may get just under 5 quarts. I change oil on Victory motorcycles all the time, (i work at a dealer) you should have anywhere from 8 to 16 nounces left over. Remember the oil change kit that Victory sells does have 6 quarts of oil in it. People with the older 92 TC bikes do use 6 quarts. So for every 5 kits you buy, you have enough oil left over for a free change, just have to buy the filter for that one.

I put four and a half quarts in also. It is right at the top line in the dip stick, maybe a drop over. I left it that way.

OK, for those of us who are mechanically challenged and don't have a manual yet, could someone post a step by step (including photos would be a BIG plus) oil change procedure?

Magic, if you make it to Circle C in South Austin, I'll show you exactly how to do that. It is a really simple procedure or else I wouldn't be attacking it. I do this with the bike on the side stand and only need the 6mm allen wrench, a filter wrench and an oil pan. Sears sells a 7 quart rouind oil catch pan that slides under the bike with room to spare. Doesn't take any time to accomplish.

I run the bike long enough to get it toasty, but not "just off the highway" hot. Self preservation...

Thanks, Richard,

I'll have to take you up on that offer some time soon. I have a cousin that lives a stones throw from Cowboy HD--so I could maybe get to both of you on the same visit. I've always found that photos rather than written instructions were easier to follow--actually doing it (and taking notes) would be even better!

dwhite28, I aways check my oil level when I return home from the dealer's service. Too many times they just don't do it right. Last time ( 2weeks ago) they over filled the crankcase. I think, they don't pull the oil plug. They suck the oil out the where you fill the crankcase and change the filter. By doing this they don't have to put it up on the lift. I had to suck out about 10 oz. of oil on this last change.

Besides the filter, what would the key components be to the oil change kits? I bought the filters and figured I'd get the oil locally. Am I missing something important?

The only thing in the kit that you need is a new copper washer for the drain plug. You can buy it at the dealer for a dollar each. It is a universal kit, so it has an o-ring and large copper washer that you will not need for a Vision. It comes with 6 quarts of oil. so you will have a quart and a half left over, and a fill spout that you prob. won't use. I will just be buying the filter and washer only from now on.
