Akron Ohio area | I now have 47,000 miles on my 2011 Vision's drive belt and will replace it sometime in the next 30 days before my trip to Phoenix Arizona.
I have talked to some riders with much more mileage on their belts without a failure.
I haven't talked to anyone who has experienced a belt failure.
Has anyone on this forum experienced a belt failure and if so at what mileage? |

| Yes I have. In the middle of a long trip. My original lasted 51k no problems. Was on my way to Alaska for a 11k trip so had one put on when I got new rubbers for the trip. The new belt lasted 3k miles Nd was determined by victory the failure was due to my shop installing it too tight. Cost ne 4 days of idke time 2500 miles from home. Wish I never changed it. New Bohemia, VA | I had the beltjump off when the came loose and got between the belt and pulley. It bent the edge of pulley, but the belt did not break. I put back on on the side of the highway and rode back home. The belt had about 30-40,000 miles if I recall.

Extreme Southern, AZ United States | Not on the vision. On my TC 1st I stripped off half the teeth at 75k or so, and at bout 120k or so I was taking off hard and the belt wnent flying out the back of the bike. I managed to get the last belt changed prior to it breaking. |

Moravia, IA | 70K on the original belt on my 08 Vision. I did have one rock work its way into/thru the belt - it was in there good but I pushed it back out, that was at about 30K miles.
Still looks good to me, Im running it. |

It seems that over-tightening the belt is the number one problem.
I dread the squeaky belt syndrome I experienced the first 10,000 miles of ownership.
The last 37,000 miles its been as quite as a church mouse. |

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | In over 100,000 Victory miles I only experienced one belt failure. I had a new 2003 transmission installed in my '99 V92C under warranty and new belt installed along with the new drive pully & sprocket- with less that 200 miles on the belt I went to take off from a light and engine revved up but didn't go anywhere, looked down and the belt was just hanging there. Tension was per spec-I remember there was a rash of broken belts at the time attributed to a bad batch-mine looked like you cut it with a knife.

| On my h-d that has the same belt manufacture as Vic one bike 98 thousand other h-d 86 thousand both never let me down.
When h-d first went to belt they said same thing replace at 15 thousand. Now they say inspect and replace at 75 thousand.
Your owners manual shows you what to look for. If your one that doesn't do burn outs and rides in a normal fashion i wouldn't think twice about your trip.
Hope Rollin finds this post he went from green bay down to the keys in Florida and then went up to Donner pass in Alaska and then home. Don't remember how many miles but it was a true test that are belts last. |

Barrington, NH | A guy I work with had a 07 Roadking and he was on his third belt in 78k miles and he rides like an old lady(dont mean that as an insult, just rides real easy)... Its strange how some people have great luck with things and others have bad luck but it definitly happens...
On the Victory subject I have 30k on mine right now and I'm not exactly easy on it, looks like the day I bought it still... |

, WI | No broken belts.
I did have a stone (pea gravel) punch through the center of the belt during a ride in Utah. I left it in the belt and rode to Las Vegas and then back home to Wisconsin. |

Akron Ohio area | If I was just riding around Ohio all the time I wouldn't worry about the belt breaking.
We have plenty of dealerships here, but out west they are far and few between.
I ride alone 98% of the time, so I try to keep my scoot as reliable as possible as cell phone service is definitely sketchy out west.
I've scheduled an appointment for Monday to get the belt, wheel bearings, plugs, and two new tires installed.
Planning on keeping the old belt (which has zero flaws in it) as an emergency repair belt. |

Ennis, Tx | I feel better now after reading thru this.... I have reached 30k on our Victory Vision and was looking thru the owner's manual of what to do at 30K miles maintenance.. And after pricing a new belt -- I went and checked the drive belt and it looks brand new with no cracks thru out... Thanks for the above responses... |

| Broke the OEM belt on my '99 about the time Lloyd told me it would fail. Had the new style pulleys and belt put on when the tranny was updated. Yeah, I had to pay cause at that time Vic only supplied the tranny.
No belt problems on my '03.
Anny gets the squealing belt but O'Lay soap fixes that for 3,000 miles. The belt squeals if I get on it now. 57,000 miles. I had the rear replaced when I found cracks in the spokes. Extended warranty covered it after a pleasant conversation with an agent at the office.
I think the best person to ask this question would be Lloyd. With all the bikes he's worked on over the years he must have seen it all.
When gassing up in Wyoming a guy started talking to me and said he worked at Gates and they make all the belts for HD and Vic. |

Just in case, I'm carrying a used spare with me on any big journeys.
Why? Because when I did replace a belt, it took a week for the part to come in.
That would suck if a belt broke far from home. |

If you take a belt with you all ways make sure you pack it with big loops. If you make tight bends on the belt it will break at one of them gaurantte you |

Bullhead City, AZ | Just had a rock get on the edge of the belt wrecked both pulleys and loosened the drive pulley bike has been in the shop a week tomorrow and don't have the parts yet. Planned on leaving Tuesday for Lewiston may have to take another bike the way this is going. Belt was fin until then , 39,000 |
