Hey All ~

I'm currently a HD Electra Glide owner but have been infatuated with the Victory motorcycles for a long while now. My fiance and I are totally into the Victory Vision and even the Cross Country Tour. My questions is, How is the Victory Vision when it comes to Lane Splitting? I do it now on my full dress Electra Glide with out any problems. That is the only thing keeping me from getting the Vision. If it's not possible then I'll have to get the Cross Country Tour.

Oh Yeah, I Live In California where it is legal.

Hmmm, That is good to know. Never really thought to measure it. LOL. Thanks. Those few inches make a bid difference.

I try not to split lanes unless its at a light. Yes, the bike is wide at the mirrors, but I am just aware of that and look before I go up the middle, and that the additional width is right where car mirrors are in alot of cases.

Having power is what makes lane spliting fun and interesting and do-ad-able .....Victory's got that covered!

I haven't had any problem keeping up with others lane-splitting, but there is a difference between following and leading when lane-splitting.

I do it all the time. I spent several years splitting from mid-peninsula into SF (daily commute) on my '08 Vision, no problems. Funny, sometimes I punch a hole through traffic, but other bikes don't seem to want to keep up with me... maybe I am doing it wrong!

I live in the Bay area. I split all the time on my Vision. Yes, it's easier if an HD touring bike is leading, but people generally move out to give you room.
Go for the Vision, you won't be disappointed. I went from a Road King to my 2012 and 19000 miles later haven't looked back once.

I live in So Cal, and own a Vision. I very rarely lane split. The faring of the Vision doesn't have the mobility of most bikes and I have clipped one too many mirrors.

My wife rides a Victory Vegas and when I do lane split I lead, and she like having me part the way for her.... But like I said I do it very rarely. Most So Cal drivers are too busy texting, reading their Ipads, putting on their makeup, or talking on their phone to pay attention to the road.

I split in So Cal on occasion. That would not be the deciding factor to me.

And that's the reason why I'd never lane split no matter where I lived.

+1

There are so many good things about the Vision that its ability to lane split never crossed my mind.

I do not split lanes too often but when freeway traffic is packed then splitting lanes has been no problem.

Never split lanes but I do remember the CHIP's splittin lanes at a high rate of speed back in the 60's when I lived in California. Here in Wisconsin we just pass the traffic how ever we can and get out front and leave the cages behind....... :-)

I rode in California for 30 years before moving back to the midwest. I use to lane split all the time. Now I'm in MN where it's not legal. However back in CA, once or twice I clipped a mirror (or they clipped mine).

Anyway point I want to make is not only is the Vision wide, but the mirrors are rigid, so should a clip happen, you have the rely on the car's mirror giving way.

If I had the Vision in CA, I believe I'd still do it, but it would increase the nervousness of an already sometimes tight situation.

The front of the Vision is wide, but too wide for lane splitting? Probably not. Just have to be a little more careful when doing it. Looks like lane splitting will be coming to Nevada soon. Don't know if I'll do it much, but may do it some in just the right situation.

Having transplanted to OH from So. Cal, I was ignorant to the fact that you could NOT split the lanes here. I found out real quick that drivers here were not use to it. Actually had one old boy in his pick-up try to catch-up to me blowing his horn the whole way. Luckily there was a lot of stopped traffic (the reason I was splitting to begin with) and he never caught me. Cagers get real PO'd when they have to sit in traffic and you don't. Anyone in CA can probably relate to splitting the 405, 5, 10 or the 15 and have a car ahead of you block up off. I never let it bother me, it made me feel that much better when I did find the opening and was able to leave them behind.

Don't know what the big deal is, there is plenty of room (even for my VV) I was very surprised to see how many states have laws against it. But then again, one only has to watch some of those You-Tube videos from foreign countries where they ride anywhere and everywhere and some of the crashes that have been caught on film.

For me it depends on the highway. Some have lanes that are wide enough to split but around my house there are several highways that are very old. The lanes tend to be narrow. I used to be able to split lanes on my TC that I just cannot do on my VV.
