New Bohemia, VA | Now I know first hand what you folks are talking about. It started shortly after I installed the new belt and pulley. I thought the "whistling" was the exhaust because it had the hole in it. So after I replaced the exhaust I still had that bloomin' whistling, chirping sound, and then it dawned on me that it was "THE CHIRP". Well, I've been ignoring it for the past several weeks, but yesterday it was the clincher, I have to do something about it. I was following the 'rents' after church to eat with Dad for Veteran's Day and get our free meal. (we had an excellent waitress, called me "Hon" and everything, she got a very nice tip and a great time with Mom and Dad). Anyway, we get to the resturant and Mom say, "What's that sound your bike is making?" Mind you, I was behind them the whole time. I said, "What sound, what does it sound like?" "It's like a whirling sound..." That's it, I've got to cure that soon, no time today, but in the morning, no more whirling sound, if it's not raining.

Lusby,Md | Good luck. On my Vision my dealer changed the rear pulley, no problem after that,40,000 miles when I traded it in for a CCT. That had a chirp too! Dealer changed the belt and rear pulley,cured,I thought. When it gets below 50'ish it chirps a little. Seems like an on going problem with these models,my T/C has never done it. Hey Mother Vic are you listening? And yes it's adjusted right. |

New Bohemia, VA | my first belt growled until I set it to the newer specs. This is slightly tighter than I ran before, so I'll loosen it up a bit and see what happens. I believe it is the pulley material that is causing this. If loosing the belt some won't cure it, I've got an idea or two that might.

Brighton, TN | Vachirpingryder- welcome to the party. Mine started from day 1, didnt see it as a problem till day 24 when it was driving me crazt. You should be able to pull its squeaker. Good luck on the surgery! |

Prairie City, IA United States | There is an easy fix for the problem. Go to a HD dealer and buy their belt dressing. It is around$5 for a tube and it will last you a very long time. A friend of mine has been using it all summer and it takes the chirp away right away.
I promise, your bike won't start acting like a HD motorcycle.  |

Chattanooga, TN | I think I read somewhere that rubbing soft wax on the sides of the belt will cure it. Anyone else hear of this? |

| I am new to Victory's but not belt final drives. Other than alignment, the "pitch" tolerance between the belt and pulleys is critical. I am not sure if MaVic has multiple vendors for these items or the machining was off but that is what I suspect. When I was working for a Custom Bike Manufacturer I test rode over 200 bikes with final belt drives and the only fix we found for those that chirpped was to replace the rear pulley. The front pulleys came on the transmission and were always ok. This was probably due to the fact they came with the trans but the rear pulleys were cut to match the wheels and came from multiple manufacturers. Just my thoughts, good luck.
Varyder, Is this the first time you have experienced the "chirp" in 130,000 miles and probably 2 belt/pulley changes? |

New Bohemia, VA | Yes. When I first got the bike, there was a growl until the new specs came out, then it never did after. 2 belts, one pulley, this new belt and new pulley. |

| Glad to hear that. I doubt it will return because as the components wear together they get better mated. |

| Also use Oil O'lay soap on it. It lasts about 3K miles. Quick and easy if everything is in spec. As an added bonus you can wash the bike and yourself with it. :~ |

New Bohemia, VA | Spoke to soon, I still think it is still a little tight, I'll have time to mess with it the weekend. It is quieter, that's what made me believe it was gone. No dressings, oils, or fancy tricks. I think with the belt tight it puts a shine on the inside of the pulley, and I'm going to take the shine off if it is still doing it after I do another adjustment. |

Ft Worth Texas | Johnny Visions you tube clip made me laugh my ass off. I thought I had a chirp, but his was crazy! I would have run that one into a deep pond. I got the soft chirp/whirl noise around 22k mark. Mostly in the 1st mile and then its gone. Now if my trunk would just do the same.... |
