20W-50 in Florida AVG year round temp is about 90 degrees.
If you have a Much lower average TEMP you might be best using 10W-40/
I use the Amsoil.......

If you go with a "good" 10w40 you really shouldnt need 20w50. Or if you wanted too, you could do what i used to do in my 125ci engine. I would mix 10w40 and 20w50 @ a 50/50 mixture. But i would only use the same oil made by the same company. Example. Amsoil 10w40 and 20w50. Same chemical makeup, just different Vis. One of most misunderstood myths were, it would make a 15w45 weight. Thats now the case. what it would do is.. Make a very very thick w40.. I used to get my oil test from blackstone labs to confirm all this info. What this did was allowed me to extend my oil change interval further by the oil staying in grade longer. Plus in my old bike it made the transmission shift alot smoother, which from what i have seen from owning a vision that is not a problem here.

I've had no problems with 20w50 for 24,000mi on my Victory. I'm in the northeast and ride where temps range from the 30's to the 90's.

20W-50 full syn for me... I give up a little HP for better film strength and gear cushioning.

My last Vic actually needed 20W-50 to make the torque compensator noise tolerable.

This subject gets brought up every year and there are a almost as many opionions as there are pages on the other Victory blogs.

Here is the fact that keeps me using the one that came with both of my Victory(s).
Victory reccomends Victory 20-40. It is speciailly formulated for Victory and they have about a million miles testing it on Visions alone. I've talked to a number of Victory engineers who simply don't believe there is a better oil for your Victory. Even if there is, it hasn't been tested to the same extent.

The way I see it, with the amount of money I've got tied up in this, why experiment? I'll experiment with rubbing compounds, paste wax, bike wash and billet pollish. I can handle that risk.

The one negative thing about 20w50 is slower flow of oil on a cold/dry start up. Ive always wondering about 20w50 and the hydo self adjusting valves. I was wondering if there is a delay in how they fill on a cold start ? I ask this as in my owners manual it doesnt give a wide spectrum of oil Visocity useage unlike other bikes i have owned.. In my booklet it only says 20w40. (w40) We all know you can use 20w50. I just was wondering if there was a reason why they didnt mention w50.... ya know?
