Im on my phone and haven't had a chance to do a search. Has anybody had trouble with the throttle being very slow to return to idle? This seems to change depending on temp. If the bike is good and hot and sits off for a few minutes, like at the gas pump it's real bad and I almost have to manually roll off the throttle. Procedure and recommended lube for the cable? It's fine when cold. Dealer just changes the throttle body adaptor and didn't mention a problem. (had the problem prior, not something they did).
47,000 miles.

Thanks
Michael

Sounds like you just need superlube for the mechanical cable. But of course there's two of them. I try to use a graphite spray that drys after a few minutes. I use brake cleaner to clean it out and spray air through to dry.

Your owners manual describes the procedure for adjusting your throttle pull and push cables. If the push cable adjustment is off even a little, it will cause a sticky feeling throttle.

My rubber throttle grip had a small blemish on it. I took it off sanded the blemish down and this allowed the throttle to return to idle upon release of the throttle.

Remove the bar end cap, add small washer between cap and bar, reinstall end cap

could you numerate those steps, Kevin? Is that something that should come already in there, or is that a fix for those with the problem? Just curious. Thanks always for your input.

It's a fix I found early with heated grips. Seems the will edge out a little and bind on the end cap. Fix it once, and it does not slide any further

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what is was. Good and hot today so it will be easy to get it to stick.

Thanks again Kevin. Once again you hit the nail on the head. Starting sticking again today. I pulled out the allen wrench and loosen the end cap and that was it. Washer goes in tomorrow.

Of course, LOL. Going out to change the oil and give everything a once over. I'm right at 3K on the full syn oil, but leaving tomorrow on a 2500 mile trip.
Wish is was today. I'm like a kid at Christmas.

When I read Kevin's post using the washer, I took the end cap off and put a small washer between the end cap and the bar end, and it does return faster and smoother.

Remove the bar end cap, add small washer between cap and bar, reinstall end cap

Another option is to take the end cap off and sand the end of the grip down a tiny bit.
