Subject: Details on Oil Change and Plugs

Fountain Inn, SC United States
We received an email inquiry from a Vision owner abroad and thought I'd put it here for answers and to help others with the same questions. Questions are simple enough so please chime in.

--------

Dear Sir,

I am one of the hard fans for Victory Vision Tours, Could you please send me the details for changing engine oils and replace oil filter as well as the model type for the spark plug?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
Li Xue Wei

Dear Li Xue Wei - per the 2008 Victory Vision Service Manual - for an oil change:

"1. Start and run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Stop the engine.
2. Securely support the motorcycle on the side stand.
3. Place an oil pan under the drain plug and oil filter.
4. Remove the drain plug with a 6mm Allen wrench, allowing the oil to drain into the pan.
5. use a 2 1/2 inch [63.5mm] oil filter wrench to loosen the filter slowly. Allow oil to drain.
6. Clean the drain plug sealing surface on the crankcase. Remove the old seal washer from the plug and install a new one.
7. Install the drain plug and tighten to the proper torque. DO NOT [emphasis in the service manual] over tighten.
DRAIN PLUG TORGUE: 15LB-FT [20 Nm].
8. Clean the oil filter mounting threads and gasket sealing surface on the crankcase.
9. Make sure the new oil filter gaskets is properly seated in the new oil filter, and apply a thin film of clean engine
oil to the gasket. Screw the new filter on until the gasket contacts the filter mounting plate. Tighten the filter by hand an
additional 3/4 turn.
10. Fill the crankcase through the oil fill cap with approximately 4 1/2 quarts [4.0 liters] of oil. Use only Victory brand
Semi-Synthetic 20w-40 motor oil or equivalent oil for use with clutches such as JASO MA rating.

NOTICE - Do not add chemical additives to the engine oil. Some automotive engine oils contain additives that could damage or reduce
the service lift of the wet clutch in the motorcycle.

11. Reinstall the oil fill cap. Start and run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperatures.

NOTE: After an oil change, the low oil pressure indicator remains illuminated longer than usual before going out. Do not rev the
engine while the low oil pressure indicator light is illuminated.

12. Stop the engine and make sure there are no leaks around the drain plug and oil filter.

13. Check the oil level and adjust if needed."

"Spark Plug: NGK DCPR6E [.032 - .036in. / .8 - .9mm]"

Kindest regards,
