Hey Ploz,

This thread was originally posted in the Vision Tech Reference Forum and replies were blocked there so no one could answer your request.

I don't have a 2010 wiring diagram so if no one comes up with the correct color for you, you can check it yourself with a voltmeter.  If you know how to use one, great.  If not, here's how:

Set the dial to DC and 20.  This will set the needle (old school) or digital readout to max readout at 20 volts.  You are only looking for 12v.  (This will take two people unless you want to hold two leads and the brake lever at the same time.)

-  Unplug the ABCD/EFGH plug from the wires you are tapping into.

-  Turn the key on.

-  Ground the black probe to any metal part of the frame and poke the red probe into each receptacle for ABCDEFGH (on the side of the plug coming from the front, not the plug going to the back bundle of wires).  When you put the red probe in each receptacle, have your helper squeeze the brake lever.  (She will love the fact that you are letting her help.)  You are looking for the one receptacle that will jump up to 12v when the brakes come on.  The running light receptacle should spike as soon as you touch it with the probe so don't confuse that with the brakes.  It will be hot as long as the key is on.

-  If you want to track down the turn signal wires, you can probe for them also while you are mapping out which wires are which.  Have your helper turn them on and watch the needle/meter jump as it blinks.  (I'd do this after you have isolated the brake wire, just to stay focused.)

-  Once you find the brake light wire (it only spikes when squeezing the lever), match the letter of the receptacle to the color of the wire.

- Once you have all your wires mapped out, put the plug back together and look for that color wire for the brake downstream where you are trying to tap into.

I'm a Phys Ed major.  This has to be easy or I wouldn't even attempt to talk you through it.  Voltmeters are cheap and this is a good confidence builder if you have never used one.

For you electrical geniuses that have a better way of doing this (you know who you are) feel free to chime in.

Cheers!

Go to this site's LINKS page and find the link to the service manual. Download the chapter for the wiring diagram for 2009-2010 models. It will give the wiring schematic and colors.
