Whats the longest you may have over run your oil change interval. Why? because I have a trip to make, with little turnaround time & it will be just in excess of 6000km. For our Friends south, interval shoud be 4000km, seems like too much right. Just curious for some thoughts. Thanks in advance Tom

I agree but if you're leaving with fresh oil and you're NOT racing it somewhere, you should be OK. Let's hear from the "mechanics" now.

You should be fine.
What hurts the oil most is heat and stop an go traffic. All I have read and with the guys that have had there oil analyzed you should be good. If your in doughty take a filter and a quart of oil and change the filter that way any bad stuff will be gone.

The newer bikes are going 5,000 miles or 8,000 km with the same engine-the reason they extended the interval was because the newer tranny will find neutral easier after 2500 miles. If you raise the RPM a little when searching for neutral it drops right in. As long as your doing normal riding, I wouldn't hesitate to go a little longer using the Vic oil and do so myself when I need to. If you have extended warranty then you probably want to keep within the recommended interval though.

I went probably 5500 miles on my 99 one time, which recommends 2500 intervals

Just enjoy, change it when get back unless you get stuck in traffic for an extended time. You can change your oil at any oriellys. Lucas motorcycle oil and wix filter would do just fine

You'll be fine, I have an 09 and change is every 5K. At the 2.5K interval I would be changing the oil at least once per month.

Highway miles should be easier on oil, some people take 4-5 months to go 2,500 miles.

Well I tried to down load a Vic 20w40 oil analysis but the file is too big.4466 miles on the oil, pretty extreme conditons 95-107 deg. hard riding.Wear metals good, plenty of active additives left for extended use if needed. The viscocity thinned ever so slightly but no problem.

I was mistaken , it probably takes me anywhere from 6-10 weeks depending on how much recreational riding I get to do.

I just checked the owners manual. It recommends oil changes every 5,000 miles on my 2012. If Victory says so, that's good enough for me, especially with the cost of their oil.

im about to change my oil on my 2011 way soon... 2100 miles. i just got back from the Dragon and a few times my oil temp dipstick hit "almost" 300F and most of the ride was 230-250F degrees.. but thats now why i am changing it so soon. July 14 i have a 12 day 4k-5k MC camping trip im going on out west.. while i hate the idea of changing the oil at 2100 when i have a 5000 o.c.i. i will need the fresh oil as a buffer for my upcoming trip. On this oil change im doing what i used to do on my last Vic and kaw, (2)qts 20w50 and (2.5)qts 10w40. that mix using the SAME BRAND of oil give me a Very thick w40 (just under w50) i know this because i had it tested by Blackstone labs.. (some) oils that are rated ?w40 are Barely a 40 weight and thats why they thin out to the next lower grade so quickly.. (im not talking vic oil, just others you read about on oil forums)

Thanks for all the input. Fresh oil in. Not going to worry about it, just do it. Leaving in the morining. Oldest daughters having our first grandchild. Moms already there. Going to be a blast riding across Canada (almost. Canmore Alberta) for the first time. Thanks again Tom

Well home again. Racked up way more km than anticipated on the ride out & touring around. So smart money said change the oil. Called dealer in Calgary said he didn't have the time or people to change it. Didn't seem too bothered that I was on the road. Maybe just me but don't ya think that might be good PR. What the f**k is a half hour. Needless to say pissed me off. Had to buy a kit from him and do it in my daughters driveway. Any of our western friends have difficulty with this service manager? Enough ranting. Had great weather, Vision never missed a beat ( as expected) 7554km in 10 days. Can't wait to go again. Come on Hot Springs. Tom
