Sorry for one more irritant. The gas gauge shows 3/4 when it is full. Then at 160 miles says the fuel is low.
What range are you getting from full to LOW FUEL?

Are you filling it on the sidestand and waiting on it to flow between tanks?

I have gone 200-207 miles light on for only a few miles. I put in 5.4 gallons and average 38 miles per gallon. The bike has only got 800 miles on it now and riding has varied single and two up.

I've had similar results with filling and gage display. I know the bike is full and yet the gage reads below the full mark. I normally fill up before I get a light so maybe I'll push it to see where it comes on. On average I'm going 165 before stopping to gas up and it only takes about 4-4.5 gallons to fill up. If you believe the odometer I'm averaging 41-42 mpg so that does appear to align with what I'm putting back in the tank.

Usually about 220 before the light comes on and if I take it slow on the fill-up the gauge always reads right at the 'full' mark.

I'll usually give my bike a couple of "nudges" to make sure any air pockets are gone...

My light "low fuel" fuel will come on when it gets down to about 1 gallon left. I usually check the range when it comes on and it is almost always at 40ish.

Am a knew member, so haven't got all the blanks filled in yet, but going over the older tech. questions I came across yours. Bought my VicTP in March, 2008, Had the same problem from the git-go, just got the 2500 mile service done and talked to the service manager about the fuel-indicator. When the vic was done, he told me they checked the OHMS on the, and I believe he said the sending unit, and it was showing 90 OHMS, when it should have been 50 OHMSw/a full tank. He ordered the part from Victory, should be in early next week, w/warrenty. You probably have it fixed by-now, but if not, you might look into it.

I have pushed 255 miles on a tank. I have not done with the Vision what i have always done with my previous bikes. I usually take a half gallon of fuel with me in a seperate container and top the bike off, then I ride the bike completly out. I always did that so i knew how far i could go if i was in a situation that i would not want to be in. Older days, gas stations would close up at night when you were traveling late at night of wee hours of the morning across the more secluded areas of the US. Knowing how far you can go can be a very handy piece of information. Right now i have 3K on my TP vision with S1L2 exhaust. I am averaging 43 miles per gallon. This is using actual calculations which happens to match pretty close to the onboard computer. I have run as much as 60 miles with my low fuel light on prior to getting fuel.

I was surprised the first time I filled up (Sunday...three days ago) at just how long it takes to fill the bike. I had a "range" of 270 following that fill up and ran the bike to OUT OF FUEL at 266. I put in exactly one gallon, ran to the station and filled it again with another 4.5 gallons. So, usable is 5.5 gallons and NO MORE!

I only have 400 miles on the bike so far. I honestly have a hard time believing people can't get over 40 to the gallon. I averaged 47.92. Is it a 'twist the grip' issue? I ride normally and kept up with all the other baggers (HDs and Kaws) through the mountains and home.

Oh...forgot to mention, the first time I filled up, I had to go back and refill as I had the same issue as you did. I filled it up and it showed only 3/4 full. I rode to the next station about a mile down and topped it off. THEN was when I remembered the dealer telling me that it takes a little longer to fill up and transfer fuel.

I pushed it a little close last week. When I stopped for gas I got 5.965 gallons in. Talk about running on fumes.

233 mi on one tank and the fuel countdown said I had a little over thirty miles left to go (while standing upright). I've been averaging about what everyone else is advertising for MPG (42-46MPG). IMO it's awesome considering the dry weight and HP the engine develops.

I've pushed 242 to 245 miles on a tank, and when I refuel, I can only put in 5.6 gal. I asked about the difficulty in completely filling the tank at the AVR. The Victory reps, (an engineer and a district rep) said the last gal has to go in slow. When fuel start going up the neck, wiggle the bike and it sucks down. Repeat this a few times, and the bike should be full. I put the last gal in slow, and wiggle the bike about a half dozen times, and the needle basically goes to full. I've seen a 20 mile difference in fill ups based on how hard I ride.

This is a very important part. I've found that after the first 'top off' I can get almost another 3/4 gallon in the bike. This might be the difference.

The last American Chopper episode feated a product called the McCuff No-Spill Gas Tank Filler. Basically a plastic ring that fits on top of the gas tank which the Gas Nozzle goes into, thus prevent spillage and faster gas-up time. Anyone tried one of them? here is a link to it:

THis post made me wonder something. In the manual, it says 6 gallon, 1 reserve. I wonder, is that a total capactiy of 7 gallons, or 6, with one of those being the reserve. I've wanted to test it, but haven't been able to. Wonder if anyone has actually run out of gas as seen how much went back in.

Pretty sure it's 6 gallons total. When the low fuel light comes on you have a one gallon left. I guess they wanted to maker sure you new you were low by having LoFuel take over the display. Drives me crazy. I make sure I fill up at a quarter tank so that doesn't happen.

I try to keep 1/4 tank in all of my vehicles. Intank fuel pumps rely on the cool fuel to keep the pump from overheating. I have seen it too many times. People try to get as far as they can on a tank of gas, run on empty for a couple of days. Then on an 80-100 degree day, fill up. Well, guess what that cold gas does to that hot pump? Ask any mechanic that has changed failed fuel pumps in the summer. I'll bet most will say a high percentage of them had a full tank. Those that werent full were probably close to empty. Pump overheated.

You have to buy gas sooner or later. Running longer on a tankfull will not change your fuel milage. Plus you will always have an extra 1/4 tank in case of an emergency. Easier to fill up a day earlier than to tak a chance.

Good God. Simply fill until the nozzle shuts off - gently rock the bike for 20-25 seconds, and add more fuel until it is full. Use your eyes, ears and good sense. Only then will the Gas Guage register 'full'. I drive hard - with a passenger (only 95 lbs) - but I am 220, and get at least 50 mpg. And my Vision has not had ANY of the complaints I hear on this site. I monitor all your beefs - in case it happens to me. But I do wonder if sometimes you guys/gals expect perfection. Even Harley's don't get that - lighten up and just enjoy!
Sorry - all the beefing I read is just nowhere near the experience I am having - Maybe Canadian Visions are built better!
