Central New York | Took the baby out for one last spin then put her away and hooked up the maintainer. Worse yet, put the plow sub-frame back on the Ranger. Hate giving in, but I think I'm pushing it now. 1st of December and no snow cover is unheard of in Syracuse. Heavens, how will we ever get to our average 120 inches. |

Tri Cities, WA | Every day it doesnt snow is one day closer to spring in my mind. I have also put my vision under it's cover for the winter but (knock on wood) we have not had snow and I'm damn glad about it. Hate the stuff personally. We have been in the upper 40's during the day and sunny and I keep thinking I should take her out and run another gas tank of fuel through her before old man winter decides to put that ugly white stuff on the ground. I would be extremely happy if we could make it through one winter with no snow for once. Last year we only had hit the ground like 3 times and stick around for a few days but that was it. Crossing fingers here.......plus we are picking up the wifes new 2012 Red XCT for Xmas this friday too from the dealer. So it needs to be sunny that day no matter what! |

| Salt is a dry chemical that when mixed with moister it eats away what ever it comes in contact with.
Back in the eighty's and ninety's there was quiet a few years where here in Minnesota we could ride a couple days out of every month. But like every thing ells thats long gone.
Funny how down south in the summer its to dam hot for them to ride and now we can't ride its just right for them.
If we could only have our cake and eat it too would be great. To think Canada and Alaska riders ride less then us what a shame. Even after November most California riders don't ride. |

California is just a 'mystery'. Here in Canada, I ride at least once a week, or more. Only thing that stops me is rain. Been beautiful the past few days, had a couple of nice rides - burned 2 tanks of fuel. Worse case of winter blues is maybe 2 weeks without a ride .... |

Bay of Gigs, WA | Don-down here in WA I too am only limited by my aversion to washing the bike when it comes to riding. Got all the heated stuff, it's whether or not I want to go to the trouble to bundle up just to go get some beer that really rules my riding time! Ain't that Japanese Current great? And those poor buggers in the East. BRRRRR ! And as far as 'bundling up' is concerned, my Co-Pilot is wow-sexy in her leathers so I encourage the winter rides!

Central New York | Cold isn't a big problem here, the salt is a bother. The worse is our average 130 inches annually of snow. I have had days when I can't see out the windows of the house, let alone ride the bike. Oh well, every area has it's problems, be it hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Guess I'll accept the snow. (does feel good to whine a little though) |

No problems anywhere on mine - bike was a bit dirty in the photo, but usually looks like it just came from the Showroom. Still. And yes - if I ride after there has been ANY salt laid down - it gets rinsed ASAP. But we don't do that much and the rain washes it away PDQ. |

seattle, wa | No, sorry bout that. I was talking to varyder, I thought he had posted awhile back about his exhaust rusting out, if so it might have been caused by salt. I would think that all the salt would get into the nooks and crannys and cause havoc. |

New Bohemia, VA | Well, let's see, my exhaust rusted out around 45,000 miles, could it, should it have gone longer? I just don't know. I've got 60,000 miles on my current mufflers and I just pulled and sprayed them with rustoluem, they seem to be doing fine. I've had no change in riding habits in the past 4 years except the first year I had 30,000 miles, the second year somewhere around 27,000 miles, the third year 26,0000 miles, but this last year, right at 20,000 - I'm not sure what happened, other than I didn't make as many rides to see the family, or any major rides, but I still rode everyday under all kinds of conditions. In fact last year we were the worst for chemicals on the road, maybe it is not as corrosive. |

Bay of Gigs, WA | Got out on mine yesterday, 41 and cloudy. Not cold enough to make me break out the electric coat, the Vision systems took care of everything. Even if it was just a 17 mile run to the store and back for some talapia for fish tacos, at least I got to run it a bit! |

seattle, wa | I think the exhaust would last longer than that.
I have had many vehicles older than the Vision with exhaust still intact.
My 08 vision came with the stage1 already mounted, when I took them off to install the stockers I noticed that the stage1s were in sad shape for as new as they were, might just be low quality muffs.
The DOT claims that the solution that is applied to the roadways these days is non corrosive, but I question that. I think they say that to keep all the "Greenies" happy in this neck of the woods. |

Central New York | As I said, I have no problem with the salt and would gladly ride if the snow and ice would stay away. I don't see a lot of difference in whether you have to change the bike mufflers or the car mufflers. Unless you are going to hibernate, somethings gonna get salt on it. |
