Are they TOO loud?

How do they compare to the Stage 1 for the TC?

According to KevinX the level 1 s sound better. I liked the idea of no heat shields but he said they were just as hard to install as the level 1s.
No idea about actual performance differences..
Finally getting my VFC III and Lloydz air diffuser installed Saturday..

I installed these on mine, still not loud enough for me.
My buddy installed stage 1, level 1 on his, and he loves it.
Personal preference, I guess.

They are not loud. Performance download is "hotter" than level 1. Looks like two allen screws and the core comes out. I been holding off till the chrome rear bumper panel comes in ,then I will pull the cores. Should be a strong exhaust note!

I just installed the level 2 pipes and K&N air filter last Sunday and the sound great. Not as loud as my Road King with Python's, but a nice rumble at idle and a good roar at speed. Need someone behind me to know for sure. I have never installed a performance enhancing product that I noticed such a difference before. The improvement in throttle response is remarkable, much quicker revving. Throttle roll-ons at speed much improved, not that it was bad, this is just so much better. I road a demo with the level 1 pipes, which I think is just different tips and packing, and these sound and perform much better. Installation was pretty easy but a lot of body panels had to be removed. I have worked on my own bikes all my life so "easy" is relative.

I really need to get out to some meets and listen to other Visions. I am still stuck on which pipes to get myself.

Mine came off the floor with them installed by the dealer in Wichita, KS. He started a few bikes and let me hear the difference. They are NOT too loud by any means. You WILL hear them on the road, especially when cruise kicks in uphill or when your passing someone (which I think would be safer than if they never heard you coming). IMHO they are perfect a perfect combo for the Freedom 6 speed tranny. Once you get up to speed and shift into 6th, they quiet right down and allow you to enjoy the road. You can get on the throttle and people will notice you in traffic. Just right for me!

I am with you on trying to figure out which pipes to get. Still not sure. Does anyone have Ness pipes installed or Cycle Dragon pipes installed and can tell about the sound and power. Not much louder than stock but with a big V-twin sound (deeper) is what I am looking for. Thanks!!

I just ride the V2V with the Ness Honkers, and my cats intact.... got lots of compliments about the deep sound, but no one said it was too loud. I did notice a few folks staring into the dark empty holes at the ends of the tailpipes... :p

Thanks for the reply Buddahead. Sounds like the Big Honkers are what I need. Did you have to change the fuel controller?

BarryBennet, dr reloader,

So far I haven't modified the stock fuel management... I wanted to see how things went on the V2V first. On leg 1 of the V2V we averaged freeway speeds, my bike was always carrying me & the mrs, we averaged 48 mpg overall over 550 miles. I do get a little popping and an occasional backfire... but I am twisted and I like it that way. Future plans include something like Lloyd diffuser and fuel management controller which sounds like more power at the expense of some fuel mileage... with a benefit of having the engine run a little cooler overall.
