I had it under the front 'batwing' but it's metal on the 2010 and was getting lousy reception. Now it is velcro'd to the dash below the windscreen. It will eventually go into the 'dash bag' whenever that gets made.

I velcro'd mine to the top of the front brake fluid reservoir and velcro tie-wrapped the cable to the existing cables and ran it down under the center console. I want to be able to easily take it off and use it in my truck. Having weather radar and traffic in anything you drive is great. Mounting it more permanent would require ANOTHER XM subscription (the XM ID is tied to the antenna / puck).

I'm thinking that my front windshield access panel is plastic (haven't removed it to verify)....if it is then would it be OK to put it under that area? The new ant is better looking than the old one but still quite large.

I plan to pick up my 665 today directly from Garmin's HQ for $800. Unless someone has a source significantly cheaper ?

I'll be selling my 660 and my separate Victory XM radio.....

$800 is full retail. AMA members get a 20% discount. You might want to check and see if that program is still in effect. That's how I bought mine.

Be careful, that's not a new unit but an "overhauled" one if you care.

Yep, that's how I bought the last two of them. It's an AMA benefit. If you aren't an AMA member this would be a good reason to sign up today and then buy it. But first check and make sure it is still in effect.

I couldn't get it to take my AMA number. It tells me Invalid member number when I am 100% positive it is correct.

Where is the best place to mount the antenna???

Pics if you have any to share.....thanx in advance.

You don't have to have an antenna unless you want the XM function.
If you just want the GPS and MP3 functions, you need not worry about
mounting an antenna.

No sense wasting all that money on the 665 then, get a 660.

I velcro'd the puck to center of the dash below the winsheild. The wire runs to the side and behind the instrument bezel, then pops back out and plugs into the connector which I ran up thru the blank switch panel next to the HID switch.
When I want to move it to another vehicle, the only thing that has to come off is the instument bezel, and it pops off easy.

It will look much better inside a 'Dash Bag'.
