Own some bars/rests. in Tucson. The most famous is Montgomery's Grill and Saloon in Vail, southeast of Tucson, exit 279, 1 mile north. We are fortunate to host, what we believe is, the largest monthly bike night west of the Mississippi (second Tuesday of each month). Stop in sometime, first round is on me!!!

I used to own part of a business here in Las Vegas. We just sold it, so now I'm working with the buyer and figuring out how to integrate the businesses. Got the Vision only about 3 weeks ago. She's going in for her 500 mile service tomorrow.

Wow, what a diversity of people here, yet we all share a common love - our motorcycles.

I've really enjoyed this thread.

Such a wide walk of life here so here are a few of mine. Worked in the copper mines of arizona,
followed the construction boom aroun the country for a few years, owned a harley repair shop for a little while. Painted for years, and now Staitionary Engineer (play with high pressure boilers) with the Chicago Public schools. With 3 more years to retirement. Loving the Vision at 11,000 miles.

racershawn don't be so sexist, Dallas_gal and trixie have both chimed in. I know it's a tough manly crowd, but there are those few of the feminine persuasion who hang out as well. I applaud the few, cause it is a testosterone filled manspace.
Dallas_gal that's awesome, I'm still scratching my head, never seen or heard of me no woman shop teacher.

And as Songfan has noted, me and my Vision, well, we just love us some sheetrock. Driving over it and laying tire tracks to it are the best. Watch out for the nails they tend to puncture the tire.

Back when I was still working in a salon, doing hair, many years before I went front seat, my boss (a straight male) used to tell everyone that my assistant &  I had the most testosterone in the room, because we would talk cars, bikes, etc. all day while the guys and other women talked fashion.... sure, to quote a line from My Cousin Vinny "I blend...."

(I like this thread, it ought to be a sticky. Good reference. I like to frequent other members businesses when I can....)

Well, the short version is that I'm a UAW Skilled Trades Auto, Truck, and Trailer Mechanic. That's what my Union Journeyman's card says, anyway. I work for GM up here in the frozen hell called Michigan (9 months of Winter, 3 months of Summer/Road Construction season).

The long version is that I have one of the coolest guy-jobs around. I get to work on bigger-than-life Tonka toys. I maintain and repair large construction equipment like dump trucks, pay loaders, bulldozers, and cranes. I keep them running in tip-top shape, despite the best efforts of their operators. I get to climb all over them, tear them apart and put them back together again. They, of course, I have to go dig in the dirt with them to make sure they work correctly.

Just to sidetrack the thread a tad...

Hey, polittle, don't be in such a hurry to go lay down your hard-earned cash for a new cell phone just yet. Take it all apart and put the pieces in a bowl of uncooked rice for a day or so. Then put it all back together again. The rice should absorb the moisture and make it good as new.

I don't think she was too interested in getting it fixed, I could be wrong, ain't the first time. That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that one. I figured sunshine would take care of the problem. Big Tonka toys, love that, only one problem, to fix them they take big heavy parts.

That's so cool, KC! That must be a lot more fun playing in wood and such all day, rather than trying get kids to look at and understand a book.

BTW, I remember my middle school shop teacher plain as day, Mr. Bauer. Can't recall my middle school math teacher, right off hand.... I think that speaks volumes.....

Due to Victory releasing the Vision I recently left all of that and went to doing my hobby full time. I currently am a BRP (Bombardier Recreational Powersports) and Polaris Technician and some American Iron Horse Choppers on the side. Major life and career change at 44.

It is great to have a professional in the Polaris field participate on this board. I have benefited
from a few of your posted tips.

Over the years I have had a number of jobs. I pumped gas and fixed tires in High School at a full service station. Later worked for my family in the construction business. Worked at a school as a campus maintenance person fixing all of the things people broke. After this I worked as a contractor near Corpus Christi, TX.

In 1986 I got a ham radio license and started working with computers. In 1993 I changed jobs and started getting paid for computer work. For 5 years I worked at computer resellers installing and fixing networks.

For the last ten years I work as a System Administrator at Broadway National Bank in San Antonio, TX. The bank has 36 locations. Unlike the banks in trouble today mine has never done a sub-prime loan.

Play the guitar since 1979 and still stink but I enjoy it too much to give up.

Hot? Noooooooooo! He was in his late 50's at the time, and pulled his pants up WAAAY over his belly.... But, being only one of 3 girls in the class  with 15 boys, (and one of the girls had asthma and couldn't take the wood dust, so she went to the library every class, and the other girl was about 4'8", 350 lbs. and had never heard of deodorant), shop class was fun, way more fun than Pre-Algebra (It only took me 3 years to get through Algebra. I'm not a mathmatical person...). The teacher looked out for me, because the boys liked picking on me and trying to make me do things that I didn't know better than to do (like getting cornered in the lumber room).

Yep, back to the being surrounded by guys, only intereested in that thing between my legs. Definitely better having them swarming me for the Vision than to help me lift lumber (their lumber especially). But 22 was way better than 12, or 40 something.

I think I'm going to go for a ride on my Vision to try to forget the ugly stuff....
