I am quite sure that this may be a stupid question to some, but I still need some advise on how to lift the Vision on my Sears Jack. The Sears jack is the red one #950190, with the flat lifter plates...I assume one needs two people to lift the bike as I cannot hold it up and work jack at same time..Ideas and suggestions are more than welcome as I said earlier I am pushing 72 and things are not as simple as they used to be...I plan to buy the Ness plate if it makes it more stable and more convenient to raise bike, but any other methods that might save money would be helpful...I really only want to raise the bike on occasion to clean rear wheel, etc. Thanks again

That is exactly the reason I bought the bash plate. It provides a flat surface so you can ue your jack to lift the bike.

I have the Harbor Freight Jack not the Sears, but they appear close. I have no problem whatsoever. I push the jack under from the right side aiming the front arm in front of the side stand. I jack it one or two strokes and then go around to the left side the bike and line up the front arm so it just catches that triangle protrusion that drops down from the front of the cast aluminum control bracket. I go back to the right side and line the jack so that the front arm will catch the same protrusion on the right side. I slowly jack the bike and it stands up all by itself. I recheck the contact points, if all is solid I jack away. I have always felt it to be extremely stable.

I might get a bash plate. I have bottomed out in Parking lots on speed bumps.

Ride Safe

Same here. Especially two up, fully loaded, driving in unknown areas. Those parking lot bumps, and speed 'humps', can sneak right up on you.

That's weird, I ordered from Cruiser Customizing on the 27th of August, and it shipped and they billed my credit card. Package arrived at work; I'm picking it up tomorrow....

Ordered one on 8/29 via the internet, the order stated it should ship on 9/02. It arrived in good condition on 9/06.
I do metal working for a living and this is a very high quality product. Well designed- perfect fit and quality hardware. It is constructed of 1/4" plate steel, laser cut and press formed. It is finished with a quality heavy black crinkle finish. I'm installing it today.
Based on the way it was manufactured and the care with which it was packed for shipping, and the on time delivery, I'd say Cruiser Customizing is an A1 operation.

I have ordered a lot of stuff from CruiserCustomizing.. and done some returns as well. No issues, no problems with them. They are pretty squared away.

Still available at this web site, but not at the discounted price. There's also a ton of other Vision accessories available through this company!

I ordered mine from the link Trekwolf posted at the beginning of this thread (Cruiser Customizing). Received it in 3 days. They had the best price of any on the internet. Going to install this weekend.

Just to let you know the plate works very well. My bike is around 2.5" off the ground. I was on a ride with some friends.. my girl was on the back. We were doing around 50 and did not see the cattle gaurd that has a mean down slope... my bike slammed into the ground hitting the skid plate. Peole behind me said it looked like 4th of July.. the bike had no problems.. did not even bend the arms where it attaches. no problems with case where it attaches as well. Saved my bike more than once.

I put mine on today and it was an easy install. I simply replaced four stock bolts with four longer ones that came with the bash plate. That's it. Couldn't be any simpler. It does not cover the oil drain plug or oil filter so oil changes will not be affected.

I tried my motorcycle lift to see if lifting the bike was easier. The Vision is much more stable on the bash plate. Getting the bike off the ground is quicker because I don't have to make sure the lift is in exactly the right spot. The bash plate is going to make maintenance a bit easier.

It saved my butt today, hit an innocuous speedbump in a parking lot today that almost left BOTH wheels high and dry.

Wow! That skid plate that VPM offers protects a far greater area than the current one we are using. Looks like the rectifier can be shielded from impact as well...
