Will, just make the damned thing already!
~George

Soon enough George. Many of you don't know I'm a one man show with no help other than my wife doing the website.
I man the store and shop 6 days a week from usually 9 0r 10 to between 6-8 at night. In that time I havew to balance out my day best possible between the following tasks that there is no one else to delegate to:
* Answer all the e-mails and PMs, plus the phone calls, as well as post responses in threads in various forums.
* Grind, sand, shape, and polish parts.
* Receive inventory and stock the store.
* Pack, prepare labels, and ship all orders. Drop them to the PO daily so you guys get your orders quickly... most ship same day we get them in.
* Drop larger items to FedEx or UPS.
* Play go-fer to the powder coater, chromer, metal and hardware suppliers, machine and waterjet shops several times a week.
* Shape seats and CAD design stitching patterns on customs
* Handle walk-in customers in the store.
* Order from my online suppliers.
* Prepare all the custom order engraving CAD artwork files.
* Pay the bills.
* Throw out the garbage.
* Somehow find 10 minutes a day to scoff down something to eat.
* Prototype what I can in between what are must dos (I cannot let orfders site while making the new parts).

Hell, sometimes I even get to see my kids before they go to bed at 9PM! That is the highlight of my week when that happens. To actually get to have dinner with them would be awesome, but the work doesn't do itself.
I don't say this to bitch, but rather to help you guys understand I do as much as I can as I can, and sometimes it's not as fast as any of us may like, but I do everything humanly possible to please you all best possible. I love what I do here, and the hours don't bother me, nor even the lack of a normal life with play time in it, but dissappointing my customers does bother me, so just know it's not like I'm twiddling thumbs when things don't come out as fast as you, or I, would like. I won't rush an important project like this, and those who know me well know the wait is usually worth it. I hope you too soon find this to be the case.

Now that that is said, I'm actually going to go get on my bike and go for a ride like you guys get to do. I hope the battery isn't dead too as it's been almost 3 weeks since I've gotten to plop my ass in the saddle!!!

I wish it were 1/2 as simple as you have it made out to be. You try making a paycheck doing only Victory parts. Sometimes I really wish you guys could live a week in the shoes of one of us Victory parts vendors to understand.

Your sill. First do only power coating screw chrome. Customers will still buy then but cut your running down. Besides not that much show so why chrome.
Find a senior person to do your chasing. Just cause there old doesn't mean they would be bad for you. By giving them a job for cheap hourly rate you could make time for dinner and the kids,

Can't not do chrome John, and it's not only the running I'd do for these. I can't just stop doing chrome on all my other parts, now can I? And even on the backrests, more will want chrome than black. Coatings aren't the problem, the million things a day I have to do is.
As for hiring, age at either end of the spectrum isn't the issue, it's this economy combined with the small Victory market. Trust me, if the funds where there I'd gladly hire someone on. Hell, I don't even take a paycheck, instead I put it all back into the company to grow it and widen the parts base and inventory.
Many don't realize how, by industry standards, thre Victory market is. Those of us who do it don't get rich, but we do it instead for the love of what we do, as well as our love for the brand. Running a business like this takes a lot more than most realize just to keep the doors open, let alone put money in the pocket.
Hopefully with the new location and store by springtime I'll be able to take on some help, but for now it is what it is.

My primary focus is to get a comfortable, good looking and safe backrest. Maybe it's because I have an 8 Ball, but for what it's worth on the color issue if I was given the choice of black or chrome I would choose black. Color isn't my primary focus and likely won't heavily influence my buying decision, but black would be my preference.

I have an '08 Vision, I bought the extra backrest, luggage rack, and filler plate. I thought i might ride without the truck, and I DON'T! I like having the trunk on and don't see me removing it anytime soon. I do believe it will fit '08-'10's. I would consider offers on it, just PM me, and we will talk.

I have all three pieces:

Backrest $449.99 new/never used

Luggage rack $399.99 new/never used

Filler plate $99.99 new/never used

Total new price is: $949.97, would prefer to sell as a set. All three pieces are only $500.00 plus freight, about $25.00 in US.

Let me know, same offer for everyone.

those prices is that dealer prices? (what you paid for them). just asking no bidding war. i only ask cause you want $25 to ship vs what a dealer would want for taxes.

Hey everybody!

No bidding war, as I stated. First come, First served. Parts were sold this morning.

Thanks for interest!

wow, that's tight. i've got the same backrest package but don't see me parting ways anytime soon. In fact, I think I'll go street this weekend for a while, then I might consider it parting ways. It's been since last year that I had it in street mode but still like the notion that I can.

This started out as a survey of interest in a passenger backrest. Any chance we could get back to discussing options for a passenger backrest? Is anyone out there working on such a thing? I, for one, would really like a backrest and I am hoping the survey has shown sufficient interest for someone to produce one.

Yes Rick,
I was hoping to have the one I designed done but all the holiday orders have been keeping me jumping with no spare time for mocking it up. Once things settle down after next week or so I'll be all over it like a cougar on a crippled chicken!

Excellent. Thanks.

I'll look forward to hearing about it and/or seeing it. That is some vivid cougar/chicken imagery.

Man, what's it take to get a backrest? Shame on you Victory for not making it available to us the people that bought your bike. Reminds me of trying to buy shit for my Harley in the mid 1990s when they created the fake over demand and no parts BS. Here we go again! Thought Victory was truly going to be different.
Cycleopps: I know you have other irons in the fire, but please let us know what you come up with.
I am truly amazed that this is the only option for now.
Waiting impatiently.

I would be interested as well. Just bought a 2011 Vision and love it. Always had HD Ultras but they don't even start to compare to the handling. However, my intent was or is to take the tour pack off and get a backrest for my wife and a rack so I can carry additional lugguage without the tour pack. Guess I should have checked the before I bought the vision. Now I find no one makes the passenger backrest and luggage rack. If you design one, I'm definitely interested.

Spring would be nice, but at this point I'm hoping everyone who wants one can get it before they sell their bike(I'm not feeling particularly optimistic at this point). This thread started last March and so far we have nothing from Victory or the after market. In my opinion Victory screwed us by discontinuing a part without a replacement. My concern is that while there seems to be demand based on this forum and other forums, I'm not sure there's enough demand to make it worth someone's while to engineer and produce something. I'm really bummed about the whole thing. I love my bike but this is really frustrating.
