Pricey.
I like the idea of making it easier to get the bike up on a lift.

I have a system of jacking up the Vision using spacers to accomadate the non-flat engine case. Though my system is effective, it takes a few minutes to get the bike 100% secure each time. As soon as I read this post I ordered the so-called bash plate. I cannot image ever needing it as its name implies, but it sure will shorten the time it takes me to service the bike. It is a bit expensive, but anything that gets me back on the road quicker is money I am willing to part with (within reason of course). Thanks Trekwolf164.

Just installed mine this morning... Works like a champ for the ATV lift, which is the ONLY reason I bought it. I just can't stand the idea of laying the bike over all the way on it's side to clean the wheels. Not to mention when you do that, you risk having the oil get into the combustion chamber. This should make cleaning chores much easier and faster. I think I paid $179 at cruisercustomizing.

I will recant on my comments about this being a useless product unless under extreme circumstances. I'm now considering one for the structure support alone. I never took that in consideration, and it is possible this could also save from busting the case on a speed bump. Has anyone seen a cheaper aftermarket one?

I realize people pay crazy prices all the time lol. I've owned a HD for years. Still do. To be honest I'll probably buy a skid plate one day, I like the fact it strengthens the frame.

It only strengths the frame by the weakest part of that setup. (How it bolts up) I seriously doubt those bolts that hold the skid plate to the frame will add anything at all other than a place to mount The plate

even with the weakest part, it will still strengthen it some, I would think.

I think it's worth the money.
Again it's very well made, easy install and fits perfectly. Also comes with the mounting hardware. Longer bolts and spacers.

I'd rather sacrifice the skid plate to a impact; rather than the bottom of the crankcase. Even if the skid plate was to bend inward; and contact the cooling fins under the crankcase; it would probably be enough to protect it. Better than being naked.

A lot of motorcycles have an exposed belly. There's NOTHING wrong with trying to protect it.

That's. A good point A LOT of bikes do have exposed belly, I don't ever remember reading on the forums about ones crankcase opening up due to normal road usage.

Does anyone know of anyone who has cracked a Vision crankcase?

The motor is the lower frame structure of the Vision by adding this plate you protect the frame or motor of the Vision it also makes it easier to service

I don't remember any crankcases rupturing either; with normal road usage.

I also don't remember anyone's head rupturing: while riding a motorcycle during normal usage....

...but I still wear a helmet ...just in case.

...as well as my Vision will soon wear underbelly protection ...just in case.

If they work with the Sears motorcycle jack, that I have'nt used since I sold my Valkyrie, I will get one for sure..I like the idea of being able to lift bike for cleaning, etc. As long as bike to stable it works for me...Any thoughts???

My Sears jack works on my 08 and11 vision with no need for anything under it..... No wood, no plates etc.. never needed one. And its been left on the jack for weeks. Both wheels removed

The bottom of the 106 engine is tapered longitudinally; it's not completely flat. I have the yellow Sears jack as well; and I've lifted my Victory with it. However, only one half of the crankcase actually is seated on the jack, there is space visible on the other half of the crankcase. I like a little more stability. So besides protection; the Ness bash plate offers a more stable area to lift the bike.

If you don't see the need it might be because you don't live in a shit hole state like Michigan with the worst roads in the country! I need one! Plus, then I can try my Vision out as a dual purpose bike..... Just need some different tires to go with the skid plate.

Kidding.

I am quite sure that this may be a stupid question to some, but I still need some advise on how to lift the Vision on my Sears Jack. The Sears jack is the red one #950190, with the flat lifter plates...I assume one needs two people to lift the bike as I cannot hold it up and work jack at same time..Ideas and suggestions are more than welcome as I said earlier I am pushing 72 and things are not as simple as they used to be...I plan to buy the Ness plate if it makes it more stable and more convenient to raise bike, but any other methods that might save money would be helpful...I really only want to raise the bike on occasion to clean rear wheel, etc. Thanks again
