edsasdelli - 2011-04-24 1:46 PM thanks for committment to Vision and the explanation of the weight limitation of the lid.  It makes sense that the weak link is the plastic lid where the four posts rest.

You're very welcome for both. Glad it shed light on the 'why'.

The Cycleops rack is justified in the expense as you get a substantial piece. I have a problem with paying $400 for a chinese rack.

I think he was speaking to me, but for your question before, I just weighed a Retro trunk rack, and all wrapped in bubble it's a hair over 2.6 pounds, so the larger Winged V and Flame would be maybe few ounces more. We use aircraft construction grade 6061-T6 tempered billet aluminum which is extremely strong compared to its incredibly light wreight. A similar rack in steel of the same thickness of ours would be close to 8 lbs, and one even 1/2 the thickness would almost be double the weight.

Now regarding custom racks, I absolutely do offer custom one off designs, so give me a shout on the phone and I'll be happy to go over it with you as to the process, the costs based on the design, and of course the finishes you have to choose from. Most customs we do would deliver in as little as two weeks in powder coat and 3-4 in chrome.

It absolutely is Larry, and the good thing for you is that by my putting it into a production part you saved a few hundred in custom costs from what we were originally speaking of. Plus you actually do have a one off custom as yours is a one of a kind and fully hand sculpted by me by hand without using a CNC. To make production easier I made some slight mods to it to allow me to better get into the corners for radiusing the surface edges (I busted my butt doing yours! ), nothing you'd likely notice, but some openings were a bitch to get into plus I made a tad more room near the rear legs to the edge of the flame to make welding them easier. So you see, you do have one like no other, so Ill see you, and your custom rack in Helen!

I am glad you made the opening a little bigger. I the radius of each flame took some time and a lot more patients than I have, and here I thought working on sub compact handguns were a bitch. Sometimes when I can get what needs to be done I just walk away for the rest if the day and go for a ride (GoFAR)...

Fist off Larry, those had radiused edges ARE my signature, plus if I wrote my name across that gorgeous chrome I'd prolly be lookin' down one of those sub compact barrels as I roll into Helen. LOL! I'll sign it for you there, how's that? But not for a Sharpie award, OK?

Let's put it this way... I'll make you a set of those larger feet so we don't punch all four legs through the lid. The weight we add there should balance out by what weight in gold I remove from your pockets. That give you a good enough guesstimation?

I shipped it out right after Jeff placed the order yesterday, so it should be to him likely tomorrow.

As for the code, that is only good if you order direct from us, so I'm sorry butthere's no 'double dipping'  as they are one of our authorized independent resellers and they buy through our dealer program. Good people too.

Thanks for the support and I hope you like it enough to share some photos with us here after they get it on for you.

Fer Shure, dude. My uppers/lowers look so pretty they make me cry. Tri-City called today and said the rack is in. Fast.
Did you really mean to say, "so I'm sorry, BUTT, there's no 'double dipping' "? I'm a H.S. English teacher, and it seems written to insinuate that I'm a "BUTT". I've been called a BUTT%$&@, just never a BUTT! That hurts, man. I might just have to hurt you back and buy some more of your cool stuff.....

LOL! I'd never! Well, maybe not never, but not this time at least. It's these the damned small text on the cell phone that I had written it on at the time. I never butcher the english language if I can help it. Doing 15-16 hour days hasn't helped my eloquence much lately either, so do forgive me until the season is over and I get back to normal. As for sliipin' some more of my goodies past your wife, no worries bro, I can always ship stuff to your buddy's address if you give me a heads up.

My wife likes to pack lots so the first thing I bought for the VV was a trunk rack. We use a Kuriakan bag for the Goldwing, works great on the rack but it also drops in to the trunk. Most of the time it is in the trunk on the way out and on the rack during the return trip. The dealer gave me a 100 off the rack when I bought the bike and I just mounted it myself , very easy.

Yep. Yep. Yep. Got it done, but I ain't puttin' up no pics, 'cause I don't want anybody else being as cool as me, considering I got all that new bling. Girls are goin' crazy, dude; people are pilin' up on the White House lawn, wavin' flags, all kinda crazy stuff.

OK, more to the truth-I've never posted pics here, so now I've gotta figure out how. I think I can, I think I can....
