I'm excited!!! Crawford has come up with a great looking Vision Pilot logo, Miles has got the Vision Riders decal rocking...Song Fan is grappling with the Mothership...it won't be long now.

I am in agreement with everyone else here...the similarity issue is insignificant in my mind and I will support this idea to the end, let me know if there is anything I can do...

Ride Safe,

Ken

The logo is a go-go!

I got a generic e-mail back from Polaris thanking me for my interest in their products and included links to the website and dealer info. Totally canned response to my request. I did some digging and called a Victory Rep direct. They listened to my issue and forwarded the call to someone above them in the chain of command. The "boss" was familiar with the logo and what we are attempting to do and saw no problem. The two main points were; 1) We didn't use the entire logo, just the "V". To his knowledge, Victory didn't have exclusive trademark rights on red "V"'s. The wings are no factor. 2) We are not in competition with Victory and are not establishing a business to draw away revenue. He told me to go for it and looked forward to seeing the VISION PILOT logo in person someday. End of discussion. (I have his address, he'll get one of the first sets.)

Crawford, we need a COPILOT oval. Po - Fire up that crazy machine. Show us what you've got.

Let's rock!

Machine is fired up been working on it. As roseypalmbeachrider would say it is a labor of love, cause it's a pain in the A$$ to learn and do. Somehow the software you just can't pay enough for decent embroidery software. This one cost too much and is not the most user friendly one in the world. I am somewhat adept at computers but dang this one is a pain, until I got the first couple done. Then it should be way easier. I have been sloshing the idea around about lightly customizing the patch for each color of bike. Either the trim around the edges or the background color to match the bike. Don't know yet. Still working out the feathers and font used. Did a trial run last night? The machine informed me to be able to do ONE patch is gonna take about 45 minutes. I thought I paid cash for the dadgum machine and this is how it repays me. Well, the black background, the yellow feathers, red V looked good. The font not so good. So I still have quite a bit of tweaking to do to make it look right. Hopefully, I can get'r done!

I want to thank Crawford, Pollolittle, and all the rest involved in getting this from start to finish in the short amount of time that it has been. Your initiative, and diligence are to be applauded. Most organizations, corporations, and companies can't move this fast. And here is group of individuals contacting each other on-line with a common Vision which brings us the Victory of having become a Pilot for things to come.

To all who shall see these presents, greetings. Know ye that reposing special trust and confidence the fidelity and ability of these here folk... YOU are now DA MAN!

Enough of this verbal chicanery, I am essssscited for what is to come. How can the rest of us help, and would a certain charge to defray the cost of those who put time, material, and energy into this cause be okay?

Put the Dr. Pepper down, get your lovely wife on this project and yes "get'r done" - I can't believe you are having any trouble with "feathers" - Oh Well - carry on for the good of us Pilots!

SongFan- Good job! - Crawford good job!

All I have done is put in some time with the design of the logo. Pollolittle and SongFan will be putting in time and money into creating the physical entities from the design. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.

I'm sorry that some may have taken offense at my thoughts about potential conflict issues with Polaris.  As I tried to clearly point out, I was NOT implying there was such a problem, only that I have personal knowledge of similar situations where the main company DID object.  I was only trying to point out an issue to avoid an unintended problem with the logo similarities.  I was in total agreement that the logo was great and also shared the view that Victory "should" have no problem with it.  However, occasionally what "should" be, isn't reality and the company objects.  Happily they did not and I will take the hit for being the potential problem root-hog, despite my good intentions.

On a separate note, as a 10,000+ hour aviator with significant time in everything from turbine rotorcraft to fixed wing jets, I have my own opinion (as does everyone else naturally) on whether I want to wear more sew-on patches or a T-Shirt with emblem.  I don't see the two things as being mutually exclusive or the two ideas in this thread (T-shirt logo vs. new patch) as being a forced choice.  I'm sure some will like/use both, some one or the other.  It's not really a competition, but a worthy effort to provide something of value - and both succeed in my mind.  Kudos to all the designers and producers involved and all the suggestions.  I'm glad this is being done in the spirit of fun and camaraderie often missing in other venues.  Congrats to all involved, at whatever level of participation.

OK, here's where we're at. Miles and JAM have been very patient and accommodating as this whole logo thing has played out. I need for everybody to understand that this is not a grassroots organization that may someday turn into a competitor for Vision-Riders. The Vision Pilot stuff is along the same lines as "World's Greatest Dad". There is no such group out there. It is a fun slant that in many respects blew up way beyond what any of us saw coming.

If you are interested in stickers, e-mail me, Tom Warren, azwarren@hotmail.com. I ordered the first batch this morning. Please don't clog up the Vision-Riders PM system with this. I want to keep Vision-Riders cleared up for Miles and JAM to promote their own ventures with minimal distraction.

Thanks for the fantastic input and dialogue. Live and learn.

Support Vision-Riders to the best of your ability. I will.

I don't think anybody took offense with you pointing out the potential problem with Polaris. It was a point well taken that came to a quick and positive resolve. I was countering your argument that it wasn't close enough to the Victory logo to be a problem. I wanted the VP logo to tie back to Victory without looking like the Victory logo so that there wouldn't be a problem. I think I accomplished that.

I want to thank everyone that has worked on this project. I am simply amazed at the level of dedication, and the amount of energy you guys have put into this in such a short time.

Most of this stuff kind of 'dies on the vine' on the other forums I've been on, or takes months and months to accomplish. Not here.

I'm not done yet, there are years to still be wasted and dragged on. Give me a break, I work as fast as a snail moves in miles. Please, hurry put your order in now, I'm planning my Disneyland trip already. How does everyone get so offended so quickly. I thought it was a good point and Songfan sent the note and made the phone call in an attempt to rectify a potential work stoppage. Thanks, Songfan, more late nights, the least you could have done was said they weren't responding. It'll take weeks and years to get through all the red tape, there is no end in sight, give it UP!
SCJ - SandCamelJim - you need to be shipping Dr. Pepper in to keep the energy levels high. If I put it down it'll never be seen. Back to the needle and thread. Oh, I so sound like a chick! OH, I think I made a pun! Need more Dr. Pepper!

Hurry up, I want mine as soon as possible. When are the license plate frames hitting the shelf? I'm getting the DT's from sitting for so long. I haven't even driven a car this week and it's 35 miles from hotel to work location, all open road through the desert.

Thanks for all that work on the logo that was spawned out over a comment about an association; no don't fire the discussion up again. I appreciate the drive those who participate in this forum, I see that Vision Pilots are a different breed from the pack, definitely out of the box thinkers. Not only is the machine revolutionary, so are the owners! Touch down 6:30pm Friday March 14, 2008 EST. KSU 7:30pm Friday, March 14, 2008.

Pollolitte, send up a flare around 5pm tomorrow and I'll airdrop in some DP as we fly over Memphis. I'll be in the 737 at about 35,000 ft around that time.

The initial run of stickers are my donation to the Vision community. No payment accepted, thanks for the offers. Will take about two weeks to get them in and get organized. E-mail me to get on the list.

I only ordered a limited number of each. Once they are gone, you're probably on your own. The originals will become part of Victory Vision lore.

Watching this Logo come into existance has been amazing. The Logo is awesome, and the commitment to making it happen is nothing short of amazing. I must say that I also liked Miles' version too. I'll be sending an email for Pilot Stickers and while I'm at it I heading over to the Merchandise page and ordering a Vision-Rider t-shirt too. I'm starting to dig this Labor Of Love thing.

The stickers will be 2X3". I originally talked reflective but it turns out that the base material, underneath the ink, is what is reflective. So, if you have a lot of ink on your logo (like ours) you are basically covering up the reflectivity. They will be non-reflective and look exactly like Crawford's ovals in the gallery.

Po and the patches are a separate animal. I have no idea what his options are. Suggest e-mail for coordination.

I like Miles' logo too. Any chance of that becomming a sticker? Maybe a inside sticker for the back window.

It's actually not "my" logo, it's the Vision-Riders logo and we are working on making it available as a sticker and cling. Just working out pricing and ordering at this time.

Wow! Neat stuff! I've been up in the Twin Cities all week for business and have missed a lot. In my opinion it seems like some are making a mountain out of a mole hill, but in today's world who knows???? I doubt the anyone could sue you for using a design of your own making. (Vision Pilot logo) Nobody owns ovals, V's or wings that are not exact duplicates of a trademark. Fairly safe to say that we are free to use any color that can be printed with ink. I'm not sure that asking Victory for permission is the right route, it almost implies that you think your doing something wrong and want to know if they will allow it. Just my opinion, I could be way off base. On the other hand, the Vision Rider Logo (Looks Great) shown above is full of Trademark "stuff" and probably would require Victory's permission. As for the "Riding The Best" listed on the bottom of the logo.........I like it. What's wrong with someone feeling like they are riding the best. If they don't feel that way, maybe they should "Ride Something Else" Not an insult to anyone, just my opinion. A possible alternative could be "Different From The Rest" How could ANYONE dispute that?
