OK, I'll try and cover everyone's questions.

First, John... Registered user discount... here. If you're a signed up member with a screen name, you get the 10% off.

As for the legs, the OEM racks sit on 4 1-1/2" standoff legs. This picture is for illustration purposes only (these legs show thet sit straight up and down when in fact they are all at different slight angles).

Steve... The Retro is overall the same dimensions as the stock rack, but it's one inch longer rearward than the OEM. The Winged V ends at the same rearward point as the OEM and is about 1-1/2" wider, and the wigtips go about the same difference forward. This picture shows an overlay of the OEM, The Winged V, and the early Retro design (the final machined version in the above pics is 1" longer at the bottom, following the same shape, just extended slight the 1"

And last but not least Luke... Thank you in advance brother, your continued support is greatly appreciated.

OK, where we're at... I met with the welder yesterday and we decided on how we'd construct the jig to make each and every one perfectly positioned regarding the legs.  I've fabbed up all the components, including 2" long standoff legs (a 1/2" higher than stock to make cleaning easier as many have asked for this feature, yet it's still low enough to look right. Tomorrow we weld up the jig as well as the two prototypes. Then they go to the chromer to determine his time and materials to determine the chroming costs. This means by the end of next week we'll have all the final pricing nailed down.

This means if all goes as planned, powder coated versions will be available in as soon as three weeks from now, chome in 1-2 more. As the first run will be limited to 25 of each style, so anyone who'd like to reserve one now please get in touch with me by e-mail or PM.

As some will be chromed, some powdered in black, blue, and black cherry, quantities of each finish will be somewhat limited. Couple that with the heavy interest both here and on the VMC, if you're going to be wanting one soon reserve it now in the finish of your choice. This ensures we also do the right ratio to best cover everyone's preference.

Will,

I think you're gonna see a lot of used stock racks for sale (in great condition) after these come out.

Will you be selling the associated hardware and templates for those of us who don't have any racks mounted yet?

For those asking about the legs, this should give you the full picture. They're fully perimeter welded (my welder is a serious bad ass... look at the welds), and the bottoms are drilled and tapped for the 6M-1.00 stock screws to simply swapt it out with your OEM rack in seconds. We will however offer hardware kits for those who aren't swapping out the stock unit. Tomorrow these two are off to chrome for pricing, and then it's full bore ahead...

I agree, these racks really look nice and I compliment you on going ahead and making them. Now I would like to throw a curve at you. I have the Vision rack on mine and have a Saddleman barrel bag that I use on it. Which works out OK, except for fastening the bag to the rack. When I bought the bag is looked like it had all the attachements I would need...I was wrong. None of the multi type attachements rally works well. So in order to hold the bag securely to the rack I use one of those net bunge cord net things. What I would buy from whoever wants to make it is a rack-bag combo that looks nice and attaches cleanly so when I get into the bag I don't have to undo Spiderman's web.

Thank you Tex, glad you like them. I just went to the Saddleman site to look at the rool bags and I can't imagine how anchoring one of those, or any bag for that matter, to these racks could be anything but easy, even doing so while leaving the bag accessible without detaching anything from it. Due to pre-conception talks with Vision owners directly I incorporated more bungee points than you can shake a stick at, not to mention all the slots already in them, plus these are 1/2" higher than the OEM. Be it bungees or straps, you'll have no trouble with these.

Orders are now being accepted for the limited first run of racks. Powder coated racks should be ready to ship in less than two weeks and chrome in 3 or less. Will fit all pre-existing mounting points for the OEM racks. Mounting kits for those who don't yet have a rack will be available for about $30-40 for those with no rack currently mounted.

Pricing is as follows:

Triple Show Chrome $499 list, $$449.10 to members

Gloss Black: $359 list, $323.10 member price (flat black by special order, add $15)

And the Metallics... Midnight Cherry, Ocean Blue, and Charcoal (SSG) : $389 list, $350.10 to members

As always, custom colors and finishes available by special order only, POR.

?

You guys wanted top shelf chrome, right? Well then, notice the lack of distortion in the reflection... so much so that in the second picture see how the camera focused on the reflection of the clouds instead of the rack itself!

OK guys, lots of updates for you on what's been going on...

The Retro components, legs, and kit parts are here. The Winged V plates arrive Monday. Tuesday we weld 'em all up, and late Tuesday or Wdnesday they go to the powder?coater and chromer.

You wanted kick ass chrome, so here they are. What do you think, will this do?

I think these pictures will show we pretty much nailed it on all points, and I'd like to know you guys think so too.?

Here's the first stretch-over protective vinyl cover we also?discussed.?

Very soft, stretchy vinyls will fit the rack nice and snug and hold your?gear firmly.

Internal sewn-in bungee all around the rear for easy on and off.

Deep 'pockets' to hold the cover on securely and protect the wing tips. Note the impeccable stitching/trimming work.

Everything but the mounting kit price is ready to go (that'll be squared away Monday when coating prices are determined).

The mounting kit will include the CNC'd bases, rubber base washer/gaskets, and SS 6MM-1.0 machine screws and 6MM SS?washers. The bases will be available in chrome or powder coat to match your rack. Install kit prices to be?announced upon getting the respective coating costs on?Monday. ?

This may sound like a silly question, but are these racks the same dimensions as the stock one from Victory ? I know they are much nicer than the stock. Great job !

Not knowing if your question pertained to the leg positions on the trunk or the rack dimensions themself I thought I'd give a Visual aid here. As for the leg positions, they'll directly replace the factory racks and fit in the OEM hole location.

This is an overlay of the OEM, RETRO, and WINGED V. I extended the tail of the final version of the RETRO (as shown in chrome here) 1 inch rearward for more space than the stock rack, and the WINGED V already has more surface area due to the wings so it sits as shown.

Alright this is an FNG question, but where do those go? They look awesome. I'd hang the "v" one in my apartment!

Glad to answer your FND question...

Well, you could hang one on the wall, and then buy a second one for this spot on your sled where it really belongs...

Funny too as this pics was already posted above but is now showing as a broken link. I guess because it was a link from a pic posted on the VMC it was removed. Silly if you ask me, but oh well, here it is linked directly from our website.

There's always one - so I guess that's me this time. Since the basic rack differs only in the mountings between the trunk and tail (Street) types of rack, is there any chance you will develop a version with the mounting brackets to fit a Vision Street?

My thoughts exactly, didn't make any sense and I thought it was weird but I had checked the link extension and it was good. Didn't understand why it disappeared. Oh well, welcome to the world wide web .

Glad you like it BTW, thanks.

I just got more pics from all angles of the first one installed, courtesy of Ron (Candyman).

Hope you guys like what you see!

The chrome job is so good I'd hate to put anything on it and chance scratching it! I saw the protective cover...just wondering how to put bungi cords thru it. Maybe I missing something?

One comment on the bottom of the "V". It would look better following the lines of the trunk lid rear (pointed somewhat) instead of being flat. My 2 cents

I hear you, but I've got it covered on both counts, no pun intended... OK, maybe a little. I picked up the covers for the Retro this afternoon and your timing is perfect since I just came in to post the pics with it on from top and bottom. Stretches over and secures by a sewn in bungee. Two velcro straps forward in the center curved flap pull in and secure to the cover itself. Notice the bungee points and slots are all still accessible from underneath without interfering with the cover. See, gotcha cover covered!

**The Winged V racks will finish being welded tomorrow so I didn't have one on hand here now to show you that cover installed, but I will post it tomorrow.

This was just the start of the welding day...

And here's a few getting boxed up and taken over to the chromer and powder coater as the day ended...

Am I correct in saying that the wing version has the most area or sq. inches ? The wing is by far my favorite.

If you scroll up in the thread you'll see the overlay of both of my racks over top of an OEM one. However, I lengthened the Retro 1 inch further rearward (down in the overlay photo) than what you see in the overlay just to add those few extra square inches you're looking for.
