What is the trick to getting the two screws out of the main assembly? Could you reach them from inside the fairing? Thanks!

The only way i know of to get the badge off is to take the fairing off.  If i remember correctly, shop rate to get both fairings off is around 75 minutes.

dwhite28,

What does the lighting assembly look like? You said it is an LED but I was wondering if a multicolor LED array could replace it connected to a controller. Then one could change the color on the fly and have the LED vary its brightness in many ways.

The picture you posted looks like it had a defuser just before the image. Is this true?

Oooh! Now there's an idea! Flames graphic with a variable light intensity LED display in the back. Actually have the flames "burn"...

(don't mind me lurking/posting boys... I'm still living vicariously through my old man's Vision 'till I can save up some funds / win a lottery)

Pretty cool Shawn. Have you actually made one and tested it to see how it looks? Got any pics?

P.S. don't forget to make a right-side American Flag, also.

ugh flames are sooooooooooooooooo 10 years ago.... how about something more contemporary that matches the style of the bike. The Vision is not a "flame" kinda bike. It needs to be text not a picture. The reason it lights up is to see that it is a Victory.
To have an oval that lights up "flames" is kinda silly and doesnt make a statement (not picking on flames, just more an example)
Something cool in the way the word VISION is styled would be pretty sweet.

Cometman, you need one of those "motion" lights behind your badge to simulate passing stars like in the Star Trek series, that would be cool.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh dude..... already downloaded the Star Trek sound effects (10 minutes of bridge sounds) to my iPod. The geekness is on high. Who will come up with that for the light?

Sadly I was thinkin on how to make the trunk look like the engine's on the enterprise. from a profile view it is much like that and you could have long running tubular molding with the lights on the tail....now that would be geekness. There's a motovation poster of a trike that looks like the enterprise over in that thread.... ideas are a spinnin'

"Darn it Jim, I'm a doctor, not a engineer, that's Scotty's forte" "Aye captain, give me 48 hours and we'll have 'er as good as new."

I really like what you did with the front of your bike too. You need to get that on Shantner's raw nerve,...

I hate to ask but...Where did you get the "Star Trek sound effects" I have the Theme and some other music but no other sounds.

I love the way that you can leave the Vision in ACC on the switch and remove the key. You can set it to play and walk off.

Ride safe!

I still have my bike taken apart, getting all the aluminum pieces either color-matched or swapped out with chrome.  I've got the side lit badges off and if I had thought of it earlier, I'd pop them open and be the guinea pig to make "infinity" lights out of them.

Here's a pretty cool video of the concept: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2659027/make_a_infinity_mirror_amazing_optical_illusion/

I'll bet a 12 LED/4.7" strip of Stingerz would curl into a nice oval inside the housing.  (I'd go with red Hot Lava.)http://www.customdynamics.com/stingerz_led_accent_lights.htm

Get some reflective window tint for the back of the stock glass, cut a small oval mirror for the back side of the Stingerz (notch it for the wires) and it should be pretty simple.  Since the Stingerz have three sides of VHB tape, you should be able to keep the whole thing together with some superglue and the VHB.  The badges have a short pigtail coming out of them that plugs right into the bike so you could just cut the pigtail off the stock LED, figure out +/- wires on the Stingerz and pigtail and solder/Posi-Lock them together.   Plug and play.  Of course, nothing is that simple but it would be pretty cool if someone pulled it off.

I have not forgotten the photos of the lighted badge. I got busy at work today and forgot to bring it home. The badge can be seperated from the LED back plate. It is all hot glued together, so once you break it apart, you can easily glue it back together. I will try and get the photos up tomorrow night.

If it's just hot glued, is it necessary to remove the light from the panel? Can the badge be removed while it's still on the bike?

Go back to the first page of this post and you will see a picture of the front part of the assembly.

How do you open the lighted badge up? I see a small hole on the bottom, where the chrome frame meets the black housing. Does the frame pop off?

Thanks,
Pat
